A Discordant Noise

Another log from me, again. This time, hopefully, a little less rambly, as I've calmed down a little since then. And from the rescue ship, for reasons which will become obvious later. But I think this is something everyone should at least have the opportunity of learning about.
So, today, roughly around morning by Earth time, I was made aware of strange sounds seemingly coming from the Titan wrecks. And I was intrigued, of course, prompting me to go investigate it after an hour or two. With Oya being the closest one, I quickly found myself there.
And I can tell you right now, there's something there. Not just "noise" which I might pick up on, but something that your ship's sensors can actually pick up and translate into sound. I spent some time listening to it, trying to make some kind of sense, but there wasn't much. All I can really tell here is... it does not evoke positive feelings. It is, to me, an unpleasant, discordant, and maybe even aggressive melody, but that might be the human part of my mind interpreting the 'sounds' presented by it as such, as they do are rather... piercing, on occasion, unwelcoming. I have not felt anything change within me - if this is some kind of signal - yet, somehow, it felt like it 'resonated' with me, on a deeper level... I hope this is not going to cause anything in the future, knowing my... 'nature'. And what happened to me, late last year. And I'm certain more people will look into this in the coming days.
What is causing it? I don't know. I have heard, or rather seen, speculation, that it is some kind of transmission being picked up or relayed by remnants of the derelict Titans which remain functional. Possible, maybe. But when I visited Cocijo shortly after this visit to Oya's remains... there was nothing. Neither a thing I could 'feel' nor anything the sensors picked up from it, and I took some risks going there while the assault on it is still going strong, with the patrols getting more and more aggressive thanks to the damage.
And, as if it were planned, early in the afternoon today, the Thargoids just... stopped attacking. No more of them around Mars High, and they seem to have stopped trying to interdict ships in system. That's never happened with any of the other Titans before, and they didn't finish the job on the station either. Only going into the system will you - probably - be hyperdicted, and the occasional Scythe will also try to prevent your escape with refugees still getting moved out of the system. Easier now, with the one remaining port clear.
The discovery of thing... "signal", if it can even be called that, and what is now happening in Sol, it can't be a coincidence. Sure, maybe the Thargoids are just pulling all of their forces back to defend the Titan as much as possible, but they knew from the beginning this would be a one-way trip for it. If anything, they deliberately are planning for the Titan to be destroyed over Earth, in the system... the question is just, to what end?
I wish I knew, or could even say. But I have a really uneasy feeling about this, they're up to something. Normally, visiting a, as they have been dubbed, "Titan graveyard" feels like being amidst ghosts, with that creaking wreckage degrading very slowly, if it is at all, but this felt... different, 'alive' somehow, as if getting sent by something, somewhere. Maybe I should be back with Aegis once they've cleaned up the mess of the Thargoids in Duamta, just in case. Or at the very least not be on the ship but somewhere on this rescue vessel's interior, instead. Just in case...
In light of this... I've finally begun committing myself to assisting the evacuation effort. I guess, better to be late than never do it. Long ago, I was told to trust certain feelings when I have them, so that is what I am doing here. This feels less like the Thargoids are abandoning the system because they have failed to protect their remaining Titan... they must have been willing to sacrifice it, and more like setup for, I don't know. So I am getting people out in case it comes to the worst, because in this state, Sol would easily be overrun if the Thargoids don't leave.
And, I remember, Seo saying that there would be another phase to this invasion. So, maybe, if the Titans were always meant to be expendable and thrown into the meatgrinder, if we found a way to destroy them, the Thargoids don't consider this a failure but simply successful setup to what they are going to do next. Something that was said to involve the captives...
I might be reaching with this, I don't know. But I figure it worth to issue some kind of... warning? I guess it would be. All I can be sure to say is, if you were hoping that they would just go away with the destruction of this last Titan...
Don't hold on to it too hard, and be prepared for worse. The Thargoids are a species millions of years older than humans and are not going to be discouraged by what, to them, is a bunch of primitives with rocks and sharp sticks getting lucky finding a miracle solution in another ancient, extinct species' technology, to destroy some of their Titans.
They plan in the long term, and we might be about to find out what a part of that plan is.I really hope I'm not a part of it ...
OOC note... I could swear there was something else I wanted to write into this but it just completely shot out of my head as I was writing and now it's gone. So if it does come back to me, you might find it in the text somewhere.
