"Commander, we're being interdicted!"
"Thank you crewman. The obvious lurching made it hard to tell what was going on. Can we escape?"
For a few seconds, all that's heard is Witchspace noise distortion peppered by the shrill alerts of the ships COVAS alarms, after which the pilot speaks up again.
"Sorry sir, they're riding our ass like a horny Xinca Nymph-Wolf!"
"Submit to the interdiction! Prepare to high wake! Closest system!"
"Aye!"
Sounds of the T9 Heavy abruptly exiting Supercruise, followed by an explosion, then panicked yelling.
"Sir, They've fired on our drives. That ship must have phasing guns!"
The ship's COVAS speaks, "INCOMING TRANSMISSION"
A female voice crackles through the ships comms, "Azimuth Logistics Bravo Delta Eight Niner Niner Heavy. Power down your engines and prepare for visual communications."
"I guess they want to talk hmmm? Put them through"
"Aye - Wait. Sir, their ship is broadcasting a friendly IFF. SVI-XD, that's a Blackflight registry!"
"Put them on the holo, please crewman. Lets find out what the fuck they want."
An electronic hum rises in volume and pitch as the ships holographic comms unit boots up. Projected across the HUD is the now infamous visage of former Azimuth Biotech Executive, Naomi Moon-Khan.
"Uhhhhh, Madam Vice President. We were not expecting you. I'm Captain Alan Mlambo. Why has Blackflight fired on a fellow Azimuth vessel?"
Naomi smirks before responding. "Oh I'm not Blackflight. I just look good in black."
The crewman mutes the external coms before interrupting. "Sir, I just received confirmation from HQ. There is no SVI-XD registered to any Azimuth division or subsidiary. Also I think her registry number might be an emoji."
"Shit! Put her back on."
A few beeps.
"Madame Vice President, what do y--"
"Captain Mlambo, you will comply with the following instructions or I will destroy your ship with you and your crew still aboard.
First, you have in your hold a cargo container labeled X97-Theta. Jettison it immediately.
Second, link your ships black box to your escape pods' telemetry, and then launch your distress beacon buoy.
Third, give the order to abandon ship. "
"Wait, we can talk about this--"
Another explosion rocks the ship. "Captain, I will not give you another warning."
"Crewman, do as she asks. Jettison that container. Launch the distress buoy, then get to an escape pod."
"Aye!"
"ALL HANDS, THIS IS THE CAPTAIN! ABANDON SHIP!"
The view switches to the feed from an escape pod. The Void Black Diamondback Explorer opens fire on the T9, which explodes in a brilliant flash.
The comms panel on the escape pod's console beeps. Captain Mlambo activates it.
"I trust that you and your crew made it out safely captain. I hope your pride isn't too wounded that you were deprived of the honor of going down with your ship."
"My crew all escaped. But why? Why did you do this? Why did you spare us?"
"Because I need you to tell Rademaker that I wanted him to know it was me! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!11!!!!1!!!"
