005 - Notable Stellar Phenomena

Captains log, Stardate 20230115.2204,

My exploration ship was exploring the galaxy, finding water worlds and earth like worlds, along with other interesting planet types. During the normal system scan phase I spotted something new and different in my navigation panel, "Notable Stellar Phenomena". I thought it was nothing, but since it was marked as notable, I thought it might be worth a look.

I selected the marker, and dropped from supercruise. The black background that once filled my view was suddenly filled in by some thin gas cloud with crystalline-like structures scattered around as if someone dropped a ton of Jacks. (You know, the pieces from the game Jacks.) My scanner beeped, "Proto-Lagrange Cloud". I could only stare. Back in the day, I had heard rumours of these Lagrange Clouds, "A dense accumulation of gas fixed in place at a Lagrange point, where the combined gravitational forces of multiple bodies create a stable region." But this was a Proto-Lagrange Cloud, so the gas was thin and would develop into a full blown Lagrange Cloud. It was hard to believe that I was there, floating within the stuff of legends.

Just then I remembered hearing a rumour about these Lagrange Clouds, the possibility of something inside. I quickly jumped back to the controls and put full power to my ship's sensors. There were many signals that were just out of my sensor's range and as I moved closer, I saw some sort of crystalline structure. I moved towards the huge structure and turned on my composition scanner that until recently, has been sitting in the dust with no purpose. I never expected I'd use that scanner before, but it seems like this was the time to finally power it on and give it a try.

Not long after scanning the unknown crystalline-like structure, the composition scanner completed its tests and reported that I found Purpureum, Rubeum and Flavum Metallic Crystals. "These crystalline structures are noted for the metallic lustre of their outer surface. These crystalline structures are created by huge numbers of primordial microorganisms." These structures were around ten times the size of my ship and slowly spun around.

Amazed at everything I have found so far, I believed this was all there was here, much to my dismay, I found an unknown signal approaching my ship. I raised the red alert and powered up my shields. In such an untraveled place it was easy to understand the intentions of whatever it might be, either it is another friendly explorer that that somehow crossed paths with me, or it was a pirate that followed me from the {system name} system. But the unknown signal was no ship, it was made out of some sort of organic material. I cautiously scanned it with once again, my "useless" composition scanner and it reported that I have discovered a life form, an Albulum Gourd Mollusc, "These organisms are so called because of the gourd-like shape of their shell. They generate chemical energy through a process similar to photosynthesis, using their tentacles to absorb light." This organism was first discovered in the PRAEA EUQ LQ-L B22-1 system by CMDR Jackie Silver, 3304-12-11. The organism liked to move towards the ship, then away, over and over again. I tried to communicate with the organism to see if it is sentient, but it doesn't appear to be such.

I ran some more tests, and even took a sample without harming the creature. My co-pilot, Xavier decided to do a "taste test" with part of the sample. Xavier reported that the sample tastes horrible and would not recommend... lol.

Below I have attached some pictures of my discoveries and the location of where these things were spotted, so some other exploration vessel is capable of finding out more about these crystalline structures and Gourd Molluscs.
