The Oracle, Pleiades Sector IR-W D1-55, year 3303 Oct 1st, 23.00

Fuel, repairs, food and drink, perhaps even a long walk to clear our heads from the unknown threats troubling this sector. That was on our minds as we made our final approach towards The Oracle station drop point when system wide comms suddenly bursted out:- All commanders to The Oracle!
- Whats at The Oracle, a reply sounded.
- Thargoid attack!
Blood pumping, senses sharpening and the sound of metal straining to keep the atmosphere on the right side of the hull.
The drop was chaotic. Corvettes, asps, pythons, assault ships, condas, lasers, anti-bug missiles, multicannons, station fire and in the middle of it all, a Thargoid ship.
At least ten commanders swerving around a single Thargoid ship. It was as if it was surrounded by mosquitos. An unlucky commander was caught by the full focused fury of the alien ship and was obliterated. You could feel the horror of from the occupied escape pod from a distance. We were all stunned watching this, paralyzed and in awe. But as the Thargoid wielded what looked like a tractor beam for the pod, we were jerked out of paralysis.
- "That pod must not be taken!" yelled the wing leader
- "I'm on it, came the reply from CMDR TRT"
- "Wing leaders: COVER HIM, FIRE EVERYTHING"
Wing after wing unloaded on the alien ship and just barely managed to distract it enough for it to lose focus on CMDR TRT and the pod and instead turn on its aggressors. Over the next few minutes we slowly got organised, constantly diving in and out of battle and somehow kept it from focusing for too long on any one ship. The scene had brought out the best of every commander and it felt like we had passed the tipping point, we were getting the overhand. The battle raged on and slowly, the Thargoid was becoming weaker.
I remember a sensation of pride in humanity. Everything will be be alright, Humans are like nothing you can ever imagine - Thargoid! And we are Unified as One!
The wonderful cracking sound of another heavy wing dropping down. Four Elite commanders in midsized ships. That should be enough to put an end to this menace. They swept down in formation with deployed hardpoints and opened fire.
"-Friendly fire, friendly fire!"
"-I'm being attacked.... Aah, that's it, hull breach nooooooo."
We had nothing to fight them with. All of us had only anti-alien weapons. What was going to be a sure win had quickly turned into confusing chaos again. We had no choice but to abandon. My faith in humanity was all but lost that day. If this cannot unite us, we are doomed and will soon be running from every system in the bubble.
