3 months had passed since the failure of Salvations Proteus Wave. Venus had spent the majority of that time gathering materials for a new combat ship and had been at Jameson Memorial prepping. Since witnessing the devastation on the broadcast monitor in Medupe City, Cubeo she had realized she would have to join the fray sooner or later. Knowing that she would need a nimble ship that could handle more punishment than any ship she had at the time she decided to move here due to the shipyard having every ship and module available.
Venus was in the room she had rented out for a few days while her ship was being delivered to Jameson Memorial. She was sat up on her bed holding her data pad in front of her a woman on the screen. The two had been talking for a few hours and Venus was ready for bed. It had been a long week for her.
'Hey before I log off, I wanted to say, I miss you.'
'Awe I miss you too. Goodnight. I'll meet you in the Commanders lounge tomorrow afternoon. Love you!'
Venus shut off her data pad and rolled over. For the first time since she lost her parents she had someone she cared about more than a friend. While Venus hated the fact she would be in Pilots Federation space she deemed it to be a safe bet, at least until her Thargoid hunter was completed. The next morning Venus woke up and opened up Galnet News to check the status of the strange "Stargoid" making its way towards the bubble. With no real updates available other than the now named Taranis slowly making its way to Human populated space, Venus crawled out of bed and hopped into the shower. She proceeded to get ready for the day and went down to meetup with her love interest, Silvia, in the commanders lounge.
A couple of hours go by and Venus scans the room and spots her. A slim female in her mid 20s with silver hair, a single cyan streak running through it on the right side. Silvia is 167cm making her slightly shorter than Venus and not nearly as muscular. Her prominent scar, from a run in with a fiesty volptex a sort of crystaline fox like creature, is seen on her right shoulder. She is an exobiologist with the galactic research division and met Venus on a planetary body while both were exploring the ruins of an ancient civilization looking for signs of life a couple of years prior. Venus approached her excitedly and before she could even get a word out Silvia began to rant about Apex shuttles.
'Hey hun, sorry it took soo long. Apex shuttle service sucks. I had to schedule like 6 different shuttles to make it here. How can they claim to be a shuttle service if they can't figure out how to fuel scoop. A non-stop trip from Daibo to Shinrarta Dezhra shouldn't be that compl.........'
Silvia was cutoff mid rant by Venus kissing her.
'Silvia all that matters is that you are here now. Come now lets get your stuff put away then we can eat.'
The two dropped off Silvia's belongings in Venus' room. Afterwards they headed down to the commanders lounge for some food. The two of them placed their orders and sat chatting. Silvia mentioned she had once traveled to earth and visited a wild life preserve and witnessed all sorts of wonderful creatures. Venus on the other hand had been busy travelling to guardian ruins gathering materials and data needed for her new ship the Ranger, An alliance Challenger. She was building it with the sole purpose of fighting the Thargoids when they finally make it to the bubble. Silvia seemed displeased by this but agreed that it was necessary. A man approached Venus from behind. Silvia was shocked by what they said.
'Dutchess Duval, your presence is requested by the commanding officer of the Imperial Navy. Proceed to the Imperial headquaters in Cubeo.'
He turns and walks away. Venus went rigid wondering what this could be about. Had she done something wrong? Was there some combat footage reviewed that showed friendly fire? Had she violated an Imperial Navy Regulation unknowingly. Silvia saw Venus beginning to panic chimed in.
'Hey, don't worry about it. Besides do you really think they would have sent a single unarmed courier to deliver news to you if they were going to throw you in the brig?'
Venus relaxed her shoulders and released her breath.
'Heh, I suppose you're right. Sorry I just get soo nervous when dealing with anyone in the Imperial Navy. It wasn't a bad time just not a great time.'
Just then their food arrived. They both ate their fill drank a couple drinks and performed a hilariously awful karaoke rendition of a 20th century song called Respect. Their laughter as well as that of other commanders could be heard throughout the Terminal. They concluded their night on the Star deck staring at the stars and wondering how many of them they had visited. They proceeded back down to their Room curled in bed with each other, put on a movie and drifted off to sleep.
