'Hello is this thing on?'

'Woah a little too close there bub. Ah right that's better...'

Where to start. A lot has happened recently and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned. Silvia is off on an exploration mission looking for more Fungus out in the Norma Arm region. It's a long trek but she isn't alone, she is with her research partner. Can't remember her name but it doesn't matter. The thing I am more worried about is that when they return, they get attacked by those bugs. I told them to keep in touch and when they reach populated space to plot their course carefully. These damned Thargoids are going to ruin Christmas. Shit this was going to be the first one in years that I was acutually able to relax during. Unfortunately I, like many other commanders I have recently met, am scrambling to get a ship ready for the fight. Ah cripes there I go rambling again.

I am now on my 4th...... or was it my 5th?, return to LFT 926 to deal with this pesky Tech Broker. Would you believe it they told me that I apparently need significantly more Epsilon obelisk data for these damned Guardian Module Reinforcement Packages for my Alliance Challenger. UGH I thought I needed delta pattern.... THAT I have plenty of. Why when you are dealing with engineers are they always so damn picky? Like don't they have enough materials on site? Hell I'd pay a premium price to not have to sit there and search endlessly for materials. If this ship fails to perform I may refit my Cutter for passenger evacuations. Soo many families displaced from their homes. Many of those families have lost people.... Mothers, and fathers have lost children. Children..... have lost their parents.... I know what that's like. War is unforgiving. It takes who it pleases and leaves others to rot. I HATE war but that doesn't mean I won't do my part to protect those who cant protect themselves.

Shit I had an idea so crazy it just might work. I was thinking about it, these Maelstroms, you know the huge Thargoid gas clouds? They are made up of caustic gas, and reports from commanders about Thargoid corrosives is that enough heat can melt it away. If these clouds are the same chemical make up then in theory you should be able engage silent running and increase your heat levels high enough to burn off the corrosive residue. Only problem is, that high heat causes problems with your ship systems. So a heat sync would need to be used to tame the temps long enough to prevent damage to systems, but then you risk taking caustic damage. Guardian weapons are useless in a Maelstrom system so encountering bugs would be a problem. Maybe it's just crazy talk. I am going to test it out at some point this next week or so and I'll report my findings. Silvia will kill me if she finds out about this.

Thargoids are the one thing Silvia hates the most in this galaxy. It's no mystery why either. She was researcher onboard the Gnosis when it was attacked. She was evacuated from the ship by one of the commanders who showed up to protect the ship and its passengers. I couldn't imagine being in that situation with no form of protection. Many others are going to end up in the same position as her through the course of this conflict. When she said she was scared last night, I didn't want her to know that I am too. I am scared for all of humanity. The people out in Colonia however, are safe, at least for now.

I'll share my updates at the end of next week. I need to make sure to test this as best I can. I don't know if there are others out there trying the same thing but for my sake...... for humanities sake I really hope there are.

Remember Stay dangerous and Fly Safe.

Commander Venus (XXD3M0N3SSXX) Duval signing off.

'Alright now how do I turn you off.'
