It had been 14 days since the thargoid incursion into Orang, 2 stations had been damaged, evacuations galore, one had just recently began repairs. It was looking bleak for a while but his pilots and allies came back with a vengeance. He read the official report that evening pronouncing Orang clear of any Thargoids. He thumped his fist on the arm of his chair with a victorious shout.He waited until the next day, well after the word got out and they began celebrating a well deserved victory. He put on his uniform and made his way to the pilot's lounge. Once he reached the walkway to the door he put on a dour, authoritative air and marched through the doors as they slid open for him.
“Two weeks!” his voice boomed through the lounge.
All voices fell silence and the chiming of glasses stopped as the room fell into a shocked silence.
He strode through the parting crowd to the Admirals table.
“It took, two whole weeks to clear Orang of Thargoids.”
He ascended the steps and sat in his chair with a frown.
Some of the pilots were shocked, others looked borderline offended.
His frown broke into a proud grin.
“Damn fine job men, and ladies.” he said pointedly, Titania rolled her eyes, Amar'a smirked a little as the overall atmosphere relaxed.
“You saved lives, and kicked Thargoid ass. I couldn't be prouder. You'll have your new directives posted tomorrow. Keep up the good work. A round on me.” cheers erupted and glasses clicked.
“Well done indeed.” He remarked to himself as he watched them.
