APEX: We can get you back

02 Feb 2023Oleg Vranov
So, I decided to delve into Azimuth exploits first-person, starting with Fort Asch in HIP 22460. I managed to land and deploy my SRV, and, naturally, got my Krait destroyed soon after (they did warn about hazards, yup).

Seems that SRV is too small a fish for Thargs to target, but large enough for them to worry. Three of them were wailing around all the time I was touring Azimuth base. By the way, there is a number of crashed ships by the base. I wonder whether they have been here originally, or they are unfortunate witnesses of the (probably) last Whytch's trick. Data cores seem to be empty and provide neither data nor credits (and only either is scannable, second is considered scanned then). Later on it was confirmed by other Commander that these DBSs were there all along.

So, after all sights had been seen, and all mats and data logs collected (Interceptors still hovering around the place), I wondered if I can have myself out in one piece. And the natural option is - well, Apex! 10 km from the site - just to check how anxious Thargs were to follow. Well, they were, although at a VERY polite distance. Not quite good an image, but you may count all three here. And - Apex did come, the brave spark! Knowing how sturdy Apex pilots are, I was expecting anything from being annyhilated in seconds to having a five-jump nap. Well, it happened to go the second way)). Mark the guy - Paul Dean, the Apex Pilot!

So, as Apex ad has it, "We can get you there" - but more valuable is the fact that they can get us back)). Provided there is a port in range. A fun little adventure that made my evening - and fueled still greater respect for Elite taxi service. Nice daredevils, aren't they?
