Inside Ironside

The first leg of my journey has ended, am safely docked at DSSA Ironside in Hawking's Gap. There's not much traffic in these parts of the woods, just a bunch of explorers and some Tritium traders. Had a nice chat with the owner of the carrier and got a free coffee. However, there's no bar just the flight deck with a view to a ringed planet above. It certainly isn't a great party spot, but I'm glad to be able to fix some stuff on my ship. And besides, my Orca has all the fun stuff you want, including a little arboretum in which I planted some shroom seeds I've found. Need to keep an eye on those, the might make for some interesting medical experiments!
Speaking of medical experiments, I've had my first hyperspace glitch, my old neurological condition. Not bad, not for long, and no lasting headaches or dizziness. Sometimes when this happens I see things in hyperspace, as if there is something -- no, someone! -- there, just outside of the scanner range. I know this is a nervous reaction caused by some low frequency quantum waveforms, at least that's what the white cloaks told me back when I experienced this in flight training for the Federation Navy. A rare condition, one in ten million has the sensitivity, and one per thousand from that really develop an intense reaction. The good thing is that I've found a pharmaceutical combination (completely organic! Well, that plus some pure alcohol) that alleviates that. I just get high from it, but who cares out here?
Out here... Wondrous new worlds I've walked on, strange skies and even stranger lifeforms. I finally felt free and relieved these last few days, what a joy. Sometimes you know that you are where you're supposed to be. I'm a creature of space, this is my home, where I belong. At least for now, at least for the coming days. And then we will see where the neutron stars will carry me. But for now, I'm free.
