Encounter at Ezra Point

Thargoids. The bloody war. I've kept away from it for a long time, for various reasons. One being that I enjoy to be alive. And I got no quarrels with these aliens, humanities interactions with them were not innocent, to say the least. It's easy to dehumanize people, it's even easier to dehumanize someone who isn't a people to begin with. Nevertheless, I had this message from Elana and Miri on my board, my former "Screaming Firehawks" comrades. And it sounded desperate. So here we go, off to Yuanjia, the last save system before Wellington and its Thargoid invasion.
It was good seeing the to gals again, Elana being all "let's burn those motherfrakkers", while Miri keeping her cool as always. The past five years zoom by and it is almost like we never parted. Elana was the pilot who got injured in my first encounters with the Firehawks, me stepping in as a replacement. The situation out here, at the very fringes of Alliance space, is tense. Wellington has been overrun and Ezra Point is under heavy siege. This will take a concerted effort to (a) hold off the Thargoids for as long as possible while (b) evacuating wounded and refugees. I have very mixed feelings about this, especially as a lot of pilots here talk about killing them "bugs" and worse terms. Once you get used to dehumanize someone, when do you stop? Anyway, I'm now caught right in the middle of it and tend to stay alive. Heading out now!
