I regret to report that I have been involved in a serious incident involving a new crew member that I hired to test newly crafted ship launched fighters. Her name was Jemina Wong and she was recommended by an engineer working for the guardian technology broker I met with at Gaughan Hub in HIP 26883. She seemed to be a skilled pilot and a friendly person, although she spoke with a strong accent that made her vowels sound wide-mouthed and exaggerated. She had a habit of making faces while speaking that fully contracted her facial muscles.
I ordered her deployment at Clark Arsenal in HIP 30260 to test the fighters against some thargoid activity in the area. Her shots were often close, but off the mark. Everything seemed normal until I received a message from the AX units patrolling the system. They informed me that they had detected some anomalies in the communications and traced them back to my ship. They said that my ship had a device that was jamming human signals and transmitting something else.
I complied with the AX units and provided my ship specs. They informed me that Ms. Wong was a suspected thargoid sympathizer and a passionate xenobiologist who had been involved in several illegal activities related to alien research. I contacted Ms. Wong and pretended that nothing was wrong. I told her to return to the ship and prepare for another mission. She complied without suspicion. I then received orders from the AX units to escort Ms. Wong back to a station where she would be apprehended and questioned.
When we arrived at the station, Ms. Wong realized what was happening and tried to escape. She failed and was surrounded by security forces. She then started to convulse and became unresponsive. The security team recorded a burst of activity from the device signal and then the signal stopped transmitting. The readout of the transmission was "echo romeo" repeating. The medics quickly stabilized Ms. Wong and took her for testing. The security team found no jamming devices on the ship or person.
I don't know what she was planning, what she was transmitting or how she was even doing it, but I hope that the authorities can find out soon. I was cleared of further suspicion, and I was ordered to pay a fine of 500 cr. I apologize for any trouble or damage that I may have caused.
