Damn, that was close.
A few days ago, Parker and I left the NGC 2899 nebula. I took the Echo while Parker commanded the Euphoria.
We met every 500 light-years to share data collected during the voyage and make necessary repairs.
Smojou YU-U c17-1 was just one of the still undiscovered systems on the way. The Echo exited hyperspace right between two of the stars in the system and was immediately roasted as both stars were too close.
I went full throttle, my systems went up in smoke. Man, that was close. I reached a safe distance when the integrity of most modules was down to 60%.
From a distance it became clear that this place is a spaceship killer. The brown dwarf orbits the main star three times a day at a very small distance. So there's an 8-hour window every 16 hours where entering the system will toast any ship that can't escape in time.
