Aurora's POV

"Lakon, Hotel, Delta, Sigma. You are cleared to land on pad 01." The flight controller said. "Acknowledged control." The pilot answered. He brought the DBX down to a smooth landing. "Landing complete." The flight controller said before signing off. "Alright let's get her out of this ship and secured in the security center." The pilot said. I heard the man say. He and his friends had the communication channels routed to be heard ship wide. And it was both annoying and helpful at the same time. The group came and released my chains from the bulkhead and lead me to the boarding ramp. We were just about to reach the security center is when things got interesting.
The communication channels lit up with activity. The settlement PA system was activated from the control room in the command building. "What the fu-." Someone started saying before another voice cut them off. "Frame Shift Anomaly Detected. Capital Class Jump Signature Detected." An automated voice announcement declared. The settlement alarms started going off. "All security personnel this is not a drill." Someone else says. All of my captors turned to look at the source of the anomaly. I also turned to look and was just as stunned as the rest of the settlement occupants. There is the sky above the settlement was the hyperspace portal generated by fleet carriers and capital class ship. Emerging slowly from it was a ship, but not a capital ship. As it finishes exiting it becomes clear that it's a Cobra mk lll. It heads towards the settlement and does a loop around it deploying it's hardpoints before settling in place over the landing pads facing the settlement. It's front painted white, the middle orange, and the back black or dark grey. On the front between the two medium hardpoints is an Arissa Lavingy-Duval decal. On each wing a bronze Brewer Corporation decal. Below that on each wing in black is a name with a emblem of the Empire underneath it. Both wings nameplates bear the moniker "L.L.V. Hubward". "How did they do that?" A third voice said. "Delacy, Charlie, Echo, Victor. This is a no fire zone, stow your hardpoints IMMEDIATELY or you will be fired upon. This is a No Fire Zone." A fourth voice called out. My captors all looked up at the sky. After a minute they swiftly moved me into the security center.
"That Cobra looks familiar." One of them said. "It's a Cobra. They all look familiar to you, You idiot. Your not even able to tell the difference between a mk lll and mk 4." Another said. "Just get her in a cell and get back to the ship. You nitwits have already spilled enough information about the Crom Silver Boys and Azimuth Biotech to her on the way." The leader of the group growled. The communication channel crackles into life again. A settlement wide broadcast. "Okusanya Prospecting Installation Control. This is Commander Eric Vons of the L.L.V. Hubward. A Legionary in Lavigny's Legion. All the personal on your Staff list comes back as wanted in ALD Space and this is a ALD exploited system. Additionally you are holding a Senator Aurora Quinta Rebia hostage in the settlement. She came in on the DBX on Pad 01. Release her immediately and no action will be taken against the population of this settlement." The voice declared. I couldn't resist a smile and taunting my captors. "I guess my stay here will be very short indeed. And your friend is better at recognizing ships than you guys give him credit for." I said as I stepped into the cell.
Their reactions were instantaneous and satisfying. As the cell door closed and sealed. Three of them tried to reach me and only managed to get in each other's way instead. "L.L.V. Hubward it doesn't matter why you are here stow your hardpoints IMMEDIATELY. Final warning." The flight controller said. There was a roar of engines and the flight controller spoke again. "Thank you for clearing our airspace Commander." Then it was immediately followed by another transmission. "You have 5 minutes before I come down and get what I came for myself. And you won't like that option as it will result in extra credits in my account." Eric called over the commlink.
5 minutes later the settlement alarms start blaring. I simply wait and about 10 minutes later the sound of combat reaches my ears. The group who brought me here looks worried. "Maybe we should go." One says. "Are you crazy? We wouldn't even get to the ship now. And even if we did he chased us across a decent section of space. Even was able to jump from witchspace straight into Atmosphere. That's supposed to be impossible." A second one says. "Maybe he knows how to travel like those Thargoids do." A third adds. "Are you serious. He flys a Cobra not a Thargiod Medusa." The second one says derisively. "He's walked through that other settlement like it wasn't a problem. And that one was in the middle of a war. I mean who is this guy?" A fourth said.
"He had an SRV there. And allies. Here he's alone with no SRV, and his ship wouldn't last 5 minutes against the anti ship turrets and sentry skimmers. That's before you factor in the handheld weaponry. So he would have to go on foot and he would have to face off against everyone else here and those anti personal turrets. He ain't getting in here." The second one scoffed. "Yeah. That's what Azimuth Biotech said when they anonymously funded the construction of the underground facility at the other settlement we were holding her at." The fourth retorted. "ALL OF YOU SHUT THE HELL UP!" bellowed the fifth one who was also the leader of the group. "You imbeciles don't think that she's not listening to every word we say so she can report it back to him if he manages to rescue her? Now keep your mouths shut." He scolded as the sounds of combat intensified.
"Yeah, Boss" one and three said. "Alright, Boss two, and six added. Four held out for a half a minute before he muttered. "Oh, alright. Ok fine. Yes, Boss. I'll keep my mouth shut. Just don't say I didn't warn y'all." Four muttered. 'Boss' looked at him hard for a minute before he turned to me. "Who is this Commander?" He demanded. "My pilot and chief of security. And now you get to find out why I gave him both of those roles." I replied bemused. Boss didn't appear to like that answer. "Why is he your pilot and chief of security!" He yelled. Slamming a fist into the wall. "Commander Eric Vons has earned the honor of both of those titles and positions because he's good at what he does." I replied stubbornly refusing to volunteer any information. "Why?" Boss asked. "He said he was the best option I had. And he had the references to back it up." I commented nonchalantly. During this time the fighting died out. The defenders of the settlement had retreated into the building and now entered the security center.
"He's not alone." One of them said. "He has a woman with him and she's almost as good as he is if not better." They added. "He released the Asset?" Boss asked looking at the group of newcomers. "Uh, I don't know what that means." They said. "Azimuth Biotech needs to know the Asset is in play. I need to contact Black Flight." Boss said. One of the defenders pointed out a terminal which Boss used to contact Azimuth Biotech and inform them about the situation. The second Boss was done making his report the doors slid open. Two violet light flashes along with the low thrum of a Manticore weapon firing was next. And the process repeated itself until a defender was dropped. After one went down the two people in matching Remlock flight suits of white with black and gold accents and bearing an imperial emblem in black on each shoulder entered. Both carried a Manticore Tormentor. Working in sync the two of them, one male and one female, cleared the area dropping anyone they saw. Boss was the last one to go down. They approached the cell and the man used an e-breach to get the door to open.
"My Lady." He said bowing. I acknowledged him. "Commander, I'm glad you were able to track them after they managed to get me out as you were about to rescue me." I said. "As am I, Senator." Eric replied. "Commander Eric Vons, I picked up a signal sent from this settlement. One that has caused some interest in this settlement." Tetco spoke up. "Perhaps we should talk about this later." Eric said. "I do tire of these surroundings." I commented as we started back towards the Hubward.
