Logbook entry

Senator's Personal Log 02 (After CMDR'S Log 24 and before CMDR'S Log 25)

Disclaimer: Each logbook Entry I write is designed with the Idea that it is a chapter in a story. Each log entry therefore does its best to wrap up certain points of the immediate situations, but they all build off the previous logs. This is the case no matter what the log title. Each log will have it's log placement listed if it breaks the numerological order established under the CMDR'S Log title. This will become more apparent and useful when it comes to future logbook entries. To start at the beginning of the story. Start with CMDR'S Log 01

Aurora's POV

"Commander, did Captain Saskia Landau contact you again?" I asked Eric as I entered. "She did. The Emperor herself was also apart of the conversation." Eric responded. "Really? What did they have to say about your terms?" I asked. "They recognized that this situation is unique but should be handled by Intelligence according to the protocol in place." Eric said. "So they didn't agree to your terms." I said. "I didn't say that. Protocol will be followed. But they have agreed to let me carry out the memory wipes." Eric said. "And Tetco?" I asked. "That was the biggest sticking point. She will remain in your service. But..." He said trailing off. "But?" I prompted. Eric drums his fingers on his hip. "But, I can't initiate any form of direct contact between me, you, or Tetco until Imperial Intelligence says I can. And I have to do a second job for Imperial Intelligence. After I get my new identity and recover the NOC data." He said. "What's wrong with that?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just..." He sighs. "I literally turn the data into an Intelligence Agent, part ways with them, and then I have to acquire a certain DBX, one that Imperial Intelligence Division believes is heavily modified for greater jump range with a preengineered FSD with double engineering. One that belongs to a group that they believe may be Black Flight from a different port one in Alliance space. Pretty easy normally, except they are the last people that I want to get my new identity on the radar of. Except I won't have access to any of the cooler toys I normally would have and the whole point of this is to disappear from the radar of Azimuth Biotech and Black Flight. They already have lined up my new identity and are prepared to get the job done." He said. "You mean your first act with a new ID is to steal a ship, from people that they suspect are from the same group who you are doing this to avoid." I said disapproval evident in my voice. "Hey, not my favorite part either. But that was the only way they would agree to my terms." Eric replied defensively. "Why have you go for the DBX? Why not send an active agent?" I asked.

"Because I will need a ship that is better than a Sidewinder anyways and I just have to confirm that the DBX does or doesn't have the unique FSD. Then I get to keep it." Eric said. "And if it does?" I asked. "Well, I said it would be safe in my hands and still serve the Empire as a Lavigny's Legion Vessel in more useful ways than Intelligence Division would use it for." Eric answered. "And how did that statement go over?" I said. "Quite well, Captain Saskia Landau wasn't exactly pleased but Emperor Arissa acknowledged the benefits of it. She has heard talk that other Commanders both in and outside of Lavigny's Legion may have acquired ships with a similar FSD. And that there's potentially 4 new ships in production. She wants me to aquire each of them. The first one is supposedly close to completion. It will have the latest and most advanced technology available and be capable of performing the same feats as the Mamba, and Fer-De-Lance as well as other ships commanders have outfitted and engineered. But, there's also something unique about these 4 particular ships that is yet unknown. I even get to keep it once I have it. The catch to this assignment is that I will have to do it as a new Commander. It could take months, maybe even a year. As for Captain Saskia Landau, she's just annoyed that Imperial Intelligence has yet to acquire a ship with one of these dual engineered FSD's." He replied. "What does that mean for me?" Eric hesitates, then answers. "Nothing." "You are hiding something from me." I stated. "It's classified. You don't need to know it. Not yet, anyways. You will be told when it's time. And no, just being a senator doesn't grant you the clearance to know. Not this time. Not for this." Eric responds as he starts to follow the protocols.
