CMDR Eric Vonsa POV
Waiting sucks. As any military personnel know, the waiting between being put on notice and either the event happening or being stood down is hard. It's been a month. Almost two months since I was moved to standby mode in alert status yellow. And the plan moved on to a accelerated timetable. I have remained in the bubble as requested and have been fighting in the Thargoid War. There are only two titans remaining. Rajin and Cocijo. We have managed to clear all of the Rajin systems and attack runs on the titan will begin shortly if they haven't already. Currently I am getting a full refit of my weapons systems. Sirius Missiles and a Thermal Vent Beam laser. I will be joining the attacks on the Titan Rajin soon. On other fronts in the galaxy both the Federation and the Empire are attempting to secure more strategic systems. Although it hasn't been officially declared. War has essentially begun again between both powers. And it looks like the Alliance may have a split of sorts between Mahon and Kane. Depending on how that goes down there is potentially the possibility of an Alliance civil war. Then there's also Jerome Archer. That man takes over Hudson's powerbase after Hudson leaves the Presidency and Winters takes over. And then there is, of course, The Empire. Not too much appears to change at the surface level but there's a Gambit in motion in the Empire that many are running without even realizing it. The Empire is already fighting in the Thargoid war. But, now that Imperial Space is almost all but clear of the bugs it is clear to those who know how to read the signs that the bulk of the Imperial War Machine is not resting but preparing. Preparing for a war. Tension between the Federation and the Empire is strained to say the least. Strategic Maneuvering and positioning has been going on these past few months. And both sides are getting bolder in their movements. Whether a war breaks out or not, it feels like the Thargoid war is going to end soon. After these last two titans fall I expect that the EDGE fleet along with the IXD will turn their focus on the remaining systems around Taranis. Then those pilots will most likely either be transferred to new posts in Imperial Space with their ships of choice kept ready to mobilize as a QRF to the Thargoids next move. Or maybe they'll remain in the current state actively deployed to defend against the Thargoid threat no matter what form it takes.
