Breathless in the Cosmos: A Dangerous Desire
14 Jul 2023Groovy Groydis
Commander Groovy Groydis, a seasoned pilot who had danced with the stars, was wrestling with an inner beast. A darkness that eclipsed even the blackest corners of the cosmos - depression. It gnawed at his soul, a relentless specter that left him yearning for a spark, a flicker of life amidst the consuming void.In his quest for sensation, he charted a course for a Resource Extraction Site (RES). These celestial arenas, nestled in the rings of distant planets, were teeming with miners and, more importantly, pirates. The RES he chose was a high-intensity site, notorious for its abundance of wanted ships. It was a perilous choice, but peril was the elixir he sought.
As he wove through the asteroid-laden site, he spotted a band of pirates. He didn't engage, instead, he let them take the first shot. His ship's canopy shattered under the onslaught, the vacuum of space began to creep in, and the normally soothing voice of COVAS, his ship's AI, filled the cabin with frantic warnings. Yet, Groydis remained eerily calm, his heart pounding in rhythm with the alarms.
As the oxygen levels plummeted, he began to experience the dangerous thrill of erotic asphyxiation. The lack of oxygen sent a rush of adrenaline coursing through his veins, his senses heightened, his body teetering on the precipice of ecstasy. It was a dangerous dance with death, a dance that could lead to brain damage or even the final embrace of death itself.
Groydis, in his desperate pursuit of sensation, had chosen this perilous path. As his consciousness began to fade, his body was on the cusp of climax. It was a surreal, almost ethereal experience, amplified by the imminent danger and the infinite expanse of space around him.
Just as he was about to surrender to the sweet oblivion, his hand accidentally grazed a button on his console. A repair limpet, a drone designed for emergency repairs, was launched. It whirred into action, fixing the shattered canopy and resealing the ship.
As the oxygen levels normalized, Groydis was pulled back from the brink of unconsciousness. He was alive, his ship intact, and the pirates were retreating, likely baffled by the bizarre encounter. The depression still lingered, but for a fleeting moment, he had felt something else, a spark of life amidst the darkness.
This was not a cure for his torment, but it was a start. And sometimes, in the darkest of times, a spark is all you need.
