DISTANT WORLDS 2 - DAY 11 - THE GREAT ESCAPE
23 Jan 2019Zak Starfall
Galactic stardate 23JAN3305We got back into the search for Niobium as soon as it was light.
We worked shifts in the SRVs, not wanting to leave Star Reaper unattended, even out here in this galactic cul-de-sac.
Not with the way our luck was currently running!
After several fruitless hours, and a couple of new locations, Cathy finally struck gold (or rather Niobium). A mesosiderite at the bottom of a crater finally yielded the lump of Niobium we needed.
The relief was palpable. At last we could escape this dead-end.
I carefully synthesised the Jumponium, treble checking that it was Grade 2, and Cathy punched the destination into Galmap - Route Plotted!!!
"FrameShift Drive Charging", and we were on our way again, journey and discoveries saved.
After all the stress of the last 24 hours, we decided to head back to our recently discovered ELW.
We're staying here to recover our composure, camped on a dusty moon overlooked by familiar looking ELW.
It may not be Earth, but it still gives us a feeling of security this far from home.
Tomorrow, we'll start meandering back down towards Omega, to be ready for the fleet departure in 4 days time.
The Distant Worlds 2 journey continues...
