DISTANT WORLDS 2 - DAY 15 - ON THE ROAD AGAIN
27 Jan 2019Zak Starfall
Galactic stardate 27JAN3305Departure day.
Feeling slightly worse for wear after failing to drink the bar dry last night, I fired up Star Reaper (good grief! those engines seem loud!) and we eased out of the Omega asteroid base and headed for the DW2 fleet meet-up on planet 7B. There were quite a few craft gathered at the meet point, but not as many as i expected, and the talk on radio comms was of hangovers and late starts.
A fleet communique came through giving us the next waypoint as the abandoned Dynasty Project settlements in the Conflux region in a week's time, a distance of 3,700lys, although there were several suggested points of interest on the way. We decided it was worth taking the scenic route to see the sights as there was plenty of time to reach WP3.
As the first craft started to depart we plotted a course for Pyramoe PM-X b33-6 and the Arkgamanon Mountain Range, lifted off and made the first jump of the next leg of our journey with a mixture of sadness for leaving Omega Mining, and excitement for the road ahead.
A short diversion to scan and map a waterworld, and we soon reached the Arkgamanon mountains, famed for being a impressively tall range sitting astride an unusually flat valley floor.
The planet side was in twilight when we arrived so visual records proved difficult to acquire, so we went and found a more convivial campsite for the night.
We'll push on to NGC 6565, a renowned planetary nebula in Sagittarius constellation surrounding a dying Wolf-Rayet star in the morning.
