DISTANT WORLDS 2 - DAY 17 - FEELING BLUE
29 Jan 2019Zak Starfall
Galactic stardate 29JAN3305Another nebula as our target destination today, NGC 6629, again part of the Sagittarius constellation, and about 22 jumps away. A long enough run to check the fixes I had made to the Galmap plotter overnight.
A problem-free run, pausing to scan and map a couple of waterworlds, and we were soon approaching NGC 6629.
A final jump and we dropped into a blue lit world, enhanced by the light from the Wolf-Rayet star.
The only planetary body was a gas giant, orbiting at 11,000ls and glowing like a super-sized marble in the nebula's light.
Having made the 11kls trek to view the 'space marble' it seemed only fitting that we did a fly-by.
Cathy volunteered to take out the fighter to get a visual record from a different angle, and I think she got a pretty good result.
The chatter on fleet comms today spoke of a rumoured stellar phenomena in a system not far from here.
It's not far off our route to Eagle's landing so we'll go and check that out tomorrow before doing a pitstop at the planet base.
