DISTANT WORLDS 2 - DAY 18 - MELLOW YELLOW

30 Jan 2019Zak Starfall
Galactic stardate 30JAN3305

A leisurely start today, Eagle's Landing was our goal and it wasn't not too far away, so there was no rush.
Star Reaper's problems seem to be behind us now, and she's running sweetly again.

Our first stop was in NGC 6629 SECTOR SU-O B6-3, where there was rumoured to be am interesting stellar phenomena.
We dropped in and did a system scan, and sure enough the rumoured signal showed up on the FSS radar. The phenomena was between the star and the first planet, so I suspected it was probably another cloud at the Lagrange point.

Correct. Though when we dropped into the signal we were greeted by a stunning yellow cloud, the type of which we had not seen before. The composition scanner logged this as a Croceum Lagrange Cloud, and it was another variant to add to our databanks.

This cloud contained only solid mineral sphere structures, or so we thought.
Cathy had taken the fighter out for a closer inspection of the spheres and their accompanying dust clouds, and was just about to head back to Star Reaper when she noticed a slightly different signal on the fighter's radar.
She announced over the comm that she was going to take a closer look, so I manoeuvered Star Reaper into loose formation behind her and followed as she closed in on the signal.

It turned out to be another Albulum Gourd Mollusc, drifting along on it's own.

As Cathy got close to the mollusc it exhibited the same response pattern as the previous ones we had seen, it moved away from the fighter and then tried to return. Cathy backed off about 500m, and the creature settled down and resumed its original position as far as we could tell. We took scans and visual records and checked the area, but we found no more of the creatures. Why was this one on it's own? Had there been others? In which case , what had happened to them? Sigh, yet more questions that we didn't have answers to!

Exiting the Lagrange cloud, we plotted a course for Eagle Sector IR-W d1-117 and Eagle's Landing.
Might as well dock there and make use of the facilities for the evening. There was a bar that needed discovering after all!

There were a few waterworlds today, but due to our delays we were lagging a bit behind schedule and most of the fleet had already passed this way and had mapped everything of interest.
Not to worry, there'll be plenty to discover and map as we get further towards the core and out the other side.
And I suspect the fleet may thin out the further we go.

Tonorrow's plan is the hop to Rohini and it's spaceport, Eudaemon Anchorage. then it's a day or so to WP3 in the Conflux.
