4 JUN 3303: New Beginnings

Hello there, datapad.

Yes I know it has been awhile, and I don't call or write. I have been busy. Busy doing what? Busy pretty much losing everything I had. Lost my ship. Lost my crew member. Lost my crew member with my ship. Crazy things happen in the 'verse, you know that. Matter of fact, things got so crazy that I had to cut and run from Vesuvit. When the Imps got routed out of the system and Time of Chaos regained control, the new powers that be frowned highly upon my dealings with the former ruling class. So I took that as my cue to exit stage left. Or at least I would have, if my EX-crew mate didn't cut and run with the T-9 we were using. She did a clean job of it too, forged IFF codes, new registry, I think she even painted it! So I took the Ghost and the last few credits I had left and found a new corner of the 'verse to hide into.

Where did I go you ask? Why to the one place a down on his luck freelancer would go: Federal space! Onyaksas, to be precise. Why? It is good proximity to the main shipping lanes and not that far from LYR space for the sweet discounts. Besides I tried Imperial space, and then an Anarchy system didn't work out either, might as well go Fed or dead! It's not a bad place, but the work is nowhere near as lucrative as it was on the edge of the bubble, everything is too clean here and all the food joints suck. Oh well, new beginnings and all that.

Yes, it does all sound fascinating, but I chose today to finally put some things down in text to get them out of my head. Yes I have a lot of free time lately, I am currently docked at Hind Mine in T-Tauri. Finally decided to get away. I scraped all my creds together and got a Cobra Mk IV for a sweet deal. I know, I know. No one flies a Mk IV when the Mk III is clearly better, but the deal was too good to pass up. Called in some favors to a couple engineers I know, it's a decent runner now. Know how I was always talking about doing an exploration tour? Well, I finally signed up for one. SWE2 left from BD+31 2990 yesterday, and this is the first waypoint on the trip. "Stardust" ( the name of my Mk IV ) was faster than I expected, we beat the main group here by parsecs! I got the maintenance crews here at Hive Mine giving her the once over, and I had some down time, so here I am.

Sometimes you have to take a step back from it all, get away from grit and grumble of living in the bubble, and stretch your legs a bit. See what's out there, see some nebulae, stuff like that. And Pilot's Fed is paying some juicy payouts for ELW's and TWW's, no sense in letting some other guy make that cred when it is mine for the taking! Yes, I know I always thinking about credits. This isn't an Infinity Jilt holo-vid. The only way to survive in the 'verse is to make creds and to keep moving. That plan has worked for me so far, no sense in changing it now. Besides, the work isn't that bad. Really. No one is shooting at me, I am not being interdicted, or staring down the muzzle of some cannon, this is almost a vacation!

Well, datapad, it was fun. Yes, good times, but I gotta go.

I don't know if these maintenance guys on this rock understand this isn't an Mk III and they are beginning to make me nervous from they way they are looking at the drive system...
Do you like it?
