Security detail. Steady pay but boring as hell. It is a bunch of walking around, seeing the same people every day doing the same thing they do every day. You only see unfamiliar faces when a ship has landed to bring supplies or whatever else to the facility. Sometimes I’ll scan visitors not because they are suspicious but because there is nothing to do except hope they have infractions and that they decide to resist. It’s good for a moment or two of excitement if they do resist, maybe three or four moments if they fight back rather than run. But after the brief excitement it is right back to boring routine.The boring routine at Henderson Applied Genetics is more boring and more routine than normal. The place is a Corporate HiSec facility with restricted landing permissions so there are no unscheduled landings, meaning there are no random-ass space jockeys to scan. Not that I could do that, anyway. Henderson has their own in house security for the facility. Me and a dozen other contracted security are responsible for the outer perimeter, so most of our time is spent driving around looking at rocks and craters.
Gulati brought in a meteorite at the end of his patrol the other day. He said he had detained it for unauthorized landing in the exclusion zone. Corporate security did not appreciate the humor when they arrived to take custody of the intruder.
