Roving Titan, Moving ...

30 Nov 2024Jana Razeki
Oh, forget it. I suck at rhymes.

So. Cocijo moving toward Sol, or the general area. And what do I have to say about it?

I couldn't care any less. Of course I wasn't happy the moment it was noticed that the Titan had started moving again, and people were looking just about ready to sound the evacuation alarms near it. Didn't happen, obviously. But when it became clear it was heading deeper into the core, all of that went away in an instant.

"But Jana, this isn't about superpowers or politics", I can hear you saying. And to that, my answer is...

I still wouldn't care, even if the Feds hadn't made me hate my life even more than the Empire ever did, and it was already really shitty back then. Sure, Earth is humanity's birthplace or whatever, but what does that even mean? Those idiot Imperials barely ever even covered it where I grew up and kept droning on about how great their new world they built away from the Federation was in those boring history classes. I have no attachments to the place or reasons to care even slightly. It's not my home, it never was, and never will be.

"But the people"

Those same people like me that suffer shitty living conditions that barely even qualify as survival, or constant anxiety at having their living pulled out from under their feet one day because shitty corporations need another five extra credits of profit? Those same people who were dragged into this fucking shitty war because the idiot politicians and maniacal morons decided to piss off a really old alien species?

No. I'm just done with all of this bullshit. Certainly enough to not bother with whatever is going to happen to Sol, and I don't care if this upsets some of you or makes you think I'm selfish. I spent enough of my life already just trying to survive, and now I just want to fucking live even for just a little while. God knows how much longer I'm even going to have left with how much you've managed to piss the Thargoids off. And by you I mean all of the warmongers, profit chasers and whichever morons just blindly followed shitty anti-Thargoid propaganda and went off to the nebulas to shoot them without a care in the world or because you got a fat paycheck out of it, no care for the consequences. And the idiot politicians that made all of this possible by following Damnation's idiotic crusade to get billions of people killed by just making the war a hundred times worse.

I still wish anybody helping the evacuation effort good luck because the actual people that make up all the things we know shouldn't suffer because a few asshats with trillions of credits and too little braincells to think further than two footsteps ahead needed a few more. Maybe that Winters person can actually make the Fed better by giving the finger to all of those idiot corpos responsible for banishing people to the streets because clearly it's always only their fault if they end up there and not a shitty hyper-corporate bullshit system where you might as well be a slave. But I'm not sure there's going to be much left of Sol if it does happen, once the Titan arrives. People are already so confident that they are just going to completely wreck it the moment it arrives, forgetting immediately just how dangerous those things can be. As if nobody's, or only a few, learned a thing.

And me... I'm going home. I've spent too many months away trying to make myself useful and help clean up the Thargoids from the Bubble. Sol can burn for all I care, if that is because it's the heart of a shitty Federal system or just me not having any connection to the place whatsoever. I won't care if they go for the Imps too, they deserve it just as much. Maybe I'd do something for the Alliance, because they haven't pissed me off in some way, but all I want to be at this point is done with the fighting, and carry on with an actual life, not constantly trying to survive. So I might just leave things unless those idiot Thargoids get too close to my home again. Then they've got another thing coming, because I sure as hell am still not on their side, and losing it to a Titan for a year and a half once, on top of all my friends, was enough. Or if they threaten that one, newer, certain friend of mine. Otherwise, with Cocijo moving, I don't consider it my responsibility or interest any longer.

Now that I'm done ranting, I'm not sure this planned attack - or, at least, right now, scouting - of Sol is really all that it appears. They could've just waited for the Titan to arrive or send it elsewhere while launching the attack. And they didn't outright invade either, unlike that other standout invasion a month or two back. Now, maybe I've spent too much time around those circles where people spend a lot of time thinking, when I just like to be an idiot whose interest it is to add size to certain important parts of her body, but maybe this is just a diversion. Or at least they're taking their time to look at the place, before they start wrecking it. Which I'm sure is coming, if not in a few days, then when the Titan gets there. If that is even where it's headed.

But whatever happens, I'm almost certainly not going to be a part of it.

I'm going home.
