CMDR Eldrich Thames Logbook, Entry #20, November 30, 3303

It took a while – eight days to be precise. But on Monday I managed to dock at Engineer Martuuk’s Long Sight Base without incident. Almost ninety jumps from Ngurii, plotting an economical jumps route filtered to only pass through systems I’ve never visited before.
Not much to report from this stage of my journey, as most of the systems surveyed are rather unremarkable; the few interesting ones along the way are already colonized, even though they still remain off of Universal Cartographic's standard maps due to being remote mining outposts with small populations.
Other tan flying from one system to the next, I made a short stop at the rings of planet Arima 7 to test Palarran’s mining laser and refinery – the only systems pending for testing since I started my journey. Since this setup is intended for basic prospecting, it doesn’t have prospector or collector limpet controllers, thus I have to scoop each fragment manually. I managed to get a few samples from the icy rings – bromellite mostly - but sadly no low temp diamonds were found.
Hauling these mineral samples in addition to the relics I bought back in Ngurii didn’t go unnoticed by pirates that attempted to interdict me every three or four jumps. I managed to evade most, but a couple were successful in pulling me out of supercruise.
Palarran’s weapons and shields are meant to keep smaller ships at bay. But when it’s a Federal Gunship or a Python, the strategy is to launch one of my Condors to serve as a distraction while I high-wake as soon as I can. Better to lose a cheap fighter than the entire ship!
My next stop in my engineering/exploration tour will be Black Hide in Wyrd. Let’s see what can The Dweller do with my turreted pulses!
