CMDR Eldrich Thames Logbook, Entry #23, February 05, 3305

As part of my goal of getting to Elite combat rank as fast as possible, I decided to go to the Rakapila system, where a week-long, system-wide Bounty Hunting operation was announced last Thursday. The aim of this operation is to keep pirate activity as low as possible in support of a parallel running trading operation. Both initiatives had gone on without major issues, but the number of participants has been quite low compared to similar operation I've participated in the past. I guess a lot of Commanders that would be here are currently participating in the Distant Worlds 2 expedition.
This, on the other hand, has allowed me to position myself among the top 10 bounty hunters so far. If I manage to keep this up, it would be the first time I end up so high in a CG's standing. These last few days - especially the weekend - has been endless combat for me and my fighter pilots, Leland and Jules. The former, by the way, finally got to Elite, so both pilots are in top shape now.
Most of the time I've been hunting by myself, but I've also winged up with other pilots. Gipsy's a though ship and can handle almost anything without breaking a sweat, but flying with other Commanders makes everything much more fun and interesting! I've exchanged comm frequencies with a few of them even, so we might team up again in the future. I only wish my good friend CMDR Oren returns to his ship some day, so we can hunt together once more...
All of this ship hunting has already paid up, and not just in Credits - of which I've made a lot, by the way. Yesterday I've received a priority comm straight from the Pilots Federation's HQ. I'm now officially ranked Deadly, the last step before my second Elite badge!
I don't know how long it will take to reach that final rank, but I'm dead set on doing it as soon as possible - I calculate that at this rate it might take me a month or so.
Lots of combat ahead indeed!
