Colonia Galleon Project Progress Report #07Yesterday, as scheduled I might add, the Urca left Amundsen Terminal bound for Eagle’s Landing, Waypoint 3 of this trading journey to Colonia. This milestone marks roughly one-third of the way already behind us.
Departure time from Amundsen was 19:39, docking at Eagle’s Landing at 23:49, for a total flight time of 4 hours and 10 minutes, traveling 2,828 light-years’ worth of Witchspace in 77 jumps.
I’m happy to report that all 608 tons of cargo onboard the Urca are still in perfect condition. Also, no interdictions during this leg.
This has been, by far, the most enjoyable phase of the overall Project, letting me sit back, relax and enjoy the sights along the way as my scanners collect valuable exploration data. Having a great audience to chat and interact with while transmitting your travels live also helps a lot.
Speaking of exploration, I’ve already mentioned this in previous entries, but the main purpose of the Colonia Galleon Project is trading in Rare Commodities. Exploration is simply a side job, taking into account the fact that this is my first-ever Colonia trip.
Since I’m following the well-traveled Colonia Highway and its stopovers, I was expecting to find lots of planets and moons without maps in the UC database along the way - some of which had been probed and mapped for the first time ever during this journey - but reckoned that by now all bodies along the route should've been discovered by someone already.
In short: I was sure I would get some “First Mapped” tags, but no “First Discovered” ones.
Well, it turns out that there are still some undiscovered bodies along the Highway, in systems that had already been visited at least once! You can imagine my surprise!
Among those undiscovered worlds I found two HMCs in the Bleia Dryiae OS-X c20-47 system that, after preliminary FSS analysis and subsequent confirmation by detailed surface probing, are perfect candidates for terraforming. Very nice finds, indeed!
My excitement over these unexpected discoveries was such that I decided to complete the journey to Eagle’s Landing as fast as I could while still collecting more exploration data. So I just did FSS analysis for the rest of the leg.
After landing and selling the data at the local UC contact and verifying the system on my map, I noticed that my claim to first discovery/first mapping of the two terraformable HMCs - along with at least a couple dozen other bodies - has been acknowledged by Universal Cartographics, the Galactic Map being updated accordingly to reflect these.
For all intents and purposes, I hereby declare planets 7 and 8 of Bleia Dryiae OS-X c20-47 to be my first-ever discoveries, with naming rights on indefinite hold by UC.
If they ever allow me to name them, planet 7 will be christened “Ribsland”, and planet 8 shall be known as “Seraphinne”, in honor of two of my most dedicated and supportive Twitch followers.
Thank you for your love and support, my friends! You deserve to have your names forever among the stars! O7
