Colonia Galleon Project Progress Report #10After about a month and a half since I left Birkeland City, the last stage of this journey to Colonia has finally started!
I departed from Polo Harbour yesterday at 19:45, plotting a straight course to Jaques Station in Colonia. However, due to the length of this leg - 128 jumps and a linear distance of 4,786.59 LY - and the fact that I’ve decided to do at least a FSS scan of every system I visit (plus probing any interesting worlds that I find) it will take me about 8 hours to get there.
Thus I decided to only traverse about half that distance, which I can comfortably cover within my 4-hour transmission window plus a little overtime - don’t forget that I’m broadcasting my journey live on Twitch twice a week!
After 60 jumps (2,282 LY hyperspace distance) I decided to make a field stop in the system I was at the moment. There were no bodies suitable for landing, but I found an Earth-Like World in that system that, while already discovered by another explorer, has never been mapped before.
So I decided to make my stopover right in the orbit of this ELW, dropping out of supercruise when the Galactic Standard Clock marked 0:01 of April 29, for a total flight time of 4 hours and 16 minutes. I launched my probes and got all of the planet’s surface covered, but for the next couple of days I’ll do a more thorough survey of it.
From this system we are only 2,518.95 LY to Colonia, which should take the better part of my next transmission - scheduled for this Thursday - to cover.
In other words, barring any unforeseen events, my next progress report will be written as the Urca sits in the safety of Jaques’ docking bay for sure!
