Colonia Galleon Project Progress Report #12

Just as I was ready for departure from Jaques back to the Bubble with my new cargo, my health took a hit. A persistent sore throat worried the medical staff at Jaques, and decided to keep me grounded until it subsided. It eventually did, but it took a full three months for me to be deemed fit to pilot a starship. In the meantime I had very little to do except watch GalNet shows, play some games, and write.

The other thing I love doing besides flying my starship is playing ancient video games, and writing. I guess the reader can tell how much I love writing since I’m putting my space travels in this logbook after all. But I’ve also been writing fiction stories for years now, but never tried to publish anything, despite the encouragement of those few that read them.

But while I was on medical leave I started to take into fiction writing once more, and decided that my next opus will finally see the light of day! I’ve already set up everything and the first chapter of this serialized story will be available this Friday… but the details of this new venture of mine are beyond the scope of this logbook. The reader can find more details on my social media.

Worry not! The space adventures of yours truly will carry on as well! And with my health finally back on track, it’s time to finish what I started over four months ago…

Yesterday the “Urca de Lima” cleared Jaques’ mailslot at 19:40 GST, with a course laid in for Vihara Gate, Kashyapa system. It took sixty-nine hyperspace jumps worth around 2,556 Light-years to get there, docking at Vihara when the ship’s clock marked 00:19 of August 05, a total pad-to-pad time of 4 hours and 39 minutes. Zero interdictions, all 608 tons safe and accounted for.

The decision to lay a different course for my return trip paid off big time, as I found lots of first discoveries along the way - including a handful of never-visited-before systems, as well as planets of interest that had never been mapped before.

All of this valuable exploration data served me to increase my standing among fellow Independent Pilots, and a couple of minutes after I offloaded the data from my ship’s computer, I received not one but two comms from Pilots Federation HQ.

The first one to inform me that my latest exploration achievements were deemed worthy of a promotion to the Elite Explorer rank. The second to remind me that with this new Elite feather on my cap, I am now one of the few pilots in the galaxy that can boast about having Elite ranks in all the three official PF categories of Combat, Trade and Exploration.

Five and a half years since I started flying as an Independent Pilot on a second-hand Sidewinder off LHS 3447, I stand now among the exalted ranks of the Triple Elite. Needless to say it, I wasted no time putting that sweet Triple Elite decal on the Urca’s hull!

The next waypoint in the route to the Bubble is Caravanserai, a station located in the Gandharvi system, about four thousand LY from my current position. Departure is scheduled for tomorrow evening, and will be broadcasted live on my Twitch frequency for those interested in joining up with me.
