Colonia Galleon Project Progress Report #14The Urca left Caravanserai on 19:29 Wednesday, August 12 - due to minor technical issues with the ship I couldn’t depart on Tuesday as scheduled - with a course laid in for Sacaqawea Spaceport, the third waypoint of the route.
Once more, due to the overall distance between the ports, it was simply impossible to get there during my usual 4 hour transmission window, so after 51 jumps and 3 hours 59 minutes of flight time the Urca touched down on body 1 A of the Clooku MZ-J b27-19 system, located roughly halfway. Arrival time was logged 23:38. The next day, Thursday August 13, we lifted off right on schedule, when the ship clock was marking 19:35, docking at Sacaqawea 56 jumps and 3 hours 5 minutes later.
With this the Urca is roughly halfway through the journey back to the Bubble. Barring any reasons that prevent me from keeping my current schedule, I estimate docking at Abraham Lincoln in about two weeks from today.
For this leg of the journey the statistics are as follows:
- 7 hours and 4 minutes of overall flight time.
- 107 hyperspace jumps totalling 3,948 light-years.
- No interdictions, all 608 tons of cargo in good condition.
This part of the journey was rather uneventful on the exploration front, at latest compared with the rest of the journey so far. It’s not that I didn’t stake my claim of discovery on less systems or worlds, but the stops along the route were mostly unremarkable, several of them devoid of any planets. The only noteworthy discoveries I made were a couple of Ammonia Worlds, and mapping a previously discovered Earth-like planet.
In any case, taking into consideration the fact that exploration is just a side-activity within the scope of the CGP, I’m more than surprised with the amount of great discoveries I’ve made during both journeys. Before setting off, I was almost certain that I wouldn’t make any special discoveries, since the routes I’ve been using were supposedly well-travelled by now.
I guess I greatly underestimated the impact the discovery of the Neutron Highway connecting the Bubble and Colonia had on travel between those two regions. I’m guessing that after the Highway was a thing the old Colonia route has remained mostly unused by people looking to traverse the vast distance as fast as possible.
The next waypoint in the route is Eudaemon Anchorage in the Rohini system, around four thousand light years from Sacaqawea - this means yet another field stopover. Departure is scheduled for next Tuesday.
