Colonia Galleon Project Progress Report #16

I’m normally writing these reports the day after flying, so this one should have been posted on Sunday. But even as I was completing my flight on Saturday I caught a cold, and it was quite bad yesterday, so I didn't really feel like writing my log entry.

But I digress! On Saturday August 22, when the ship’s clock read 19:37, the Urca departed Eudaemon Anchorage, with a course for Omega Mining Operation laid in. The nav computer plotted a 70 jump route, which I managed to complete within my 4-hour live transmission window.

Docking at Omega Mining happened 23:10, for a total flight time of 3 hours and 33 minutes, covering a hyperspace distance of 2,551 Light-years. No interdictions this time, all cargo safe and accounted for.

I was surprised at how fast this leg was completed, as I was expecting my actual time to be much closer to the 4-hour mark - and most likely exceeding it a bit. The reason for this is that a lot of the systems I jumped into had no planets at all, and in those that did have were not interesting enough to warrant getting closer and launching the mapping probes, save for a few.

With Waypoint 5 of the route reached, we are now in position to make the final push to Sol this week, and bring the CGP to its conclusion. About time, as this little project of mine was started on February 24 of current year, exactly six months ago as of this log entry, half of that time spent on medical leave at Jaques. The CGP should have been completed by the end of June or early July at the latest.

Therefore I decided to complete the rest of the journey this week by doing three transmissions instead of the usual two. Three, because I need two sessions to reach my next Waypoint - Hillary Depot - because of total distance. Tomorrow and Wednesday will be dedicated to that.

And on Thursday, barring any unforeseen events, I will set course to Abraham Lincoln, my final destination. I will sell my 65 tons of Jaques Quinentian Still here, marking this as the symbolic end of the project. The rest of my cargo - minerals I mined in and around Colonia - will be sold at the ports offering the best prices.

After all cargo is sold, then I’ll head straight to Ali Ring for what will most likely be an indefinite leave of absence, expecting to return when the Pilots Federation clears us to leave our ships on foot. I might return earlier, but don’t count on it!
