This log is entirely OOC. I had started a new arc in Jan of '22, with the plan being to expand upon a new era for my CMDR gettin' involved in a group with parallels to the CGC in Necromunda alongside exploring the encroaching psychic damage caused by their contact w/ an entity found when they were out in deep space and experienced a time jump. After having written the first chapter and drafted the arc o'er the following month, I looked over Inara's ToS and realised it was unfeasible. My writing was veering into splatterpunk territory alongside explorations of the seedier side of ED implications which probably would've made the story read at some odd midsection between Wrath James Wright, E. E. "Doc" Smith, and Irvine Welsh. This obviously puts it beyond the PG-13 standard for Inara logs.
I could have done what some other writers have and put it out as a hyperlink to a website or wordpress, or even have just stored it up to release as some random novella on the usual sites. I am unwilling to do so. I write for my own enjoyment and the art of a project, and the aforementioned options would make it feel like a product and ruin the point of writing.
I can at least feel happy that I made a relatively readable story with a cliff hanger ending. We can consider the extra chapter a pilot for a canned sequel series, I suppose. I'd say thanks to the folks like Mara and Stryker who helped me during my writing, but I doubt they're even still around at this point so I guess it's kinda moot.
I'm probably talkin' to the void anyway. The only time more people than my wingmates read my logs was when I unintentionally piggybacked off other more respected authors. That bein' said, I felt it best to at least put a stamp on things. I could've re-written everything moving forwards to be Inara friendly, but then it would lose its point. I'm still doin' my space terrorism thing, and it looks like I'll have to move from the place I've been workin' on o'er the past two years 'cause another PMF has shown up and I'm not gonna ice skate uphill again. Still, I'll always do the same thing I always have.
