CMDR Log... uh... zero-zero-one. Date is November the 29th, 3310. Earth-Time is, erm... 2230.

I haven't had the heart to go through my aunt's old things. It's been well over a year since she died. Her personal effects were willed to me. Simple things: A bobblehead shaped like Earth, a bottle of vintage Lavian brandy, and several merits of service to each of the Superpowers. It turns out Aunt Harriet was quite the adventurer! She also left behind a sealed data-journal for my eyes only. Can't seem to get the damn thing open...

[There is a pause. The hum of the cockpit and a station's intercom can be heard in the background.]

...I've never done a logbook entry. The Stormrunner's logbook is decidedly empty. If I died out there in the Black, nobody would know my past or my reasons. Just another hotshot pilot who was taken by the cruel whims of Space. I don't know... something compelled me to press record and just... start speaking. The Federation temporarily opened up Sol to the public. I guess the Feds need all the help they can get from CMDRs, like me. I just--

[He is interrupted. The ship's AI Celeste begins to speak. "Incoming Critical Message." There was another long pause, followed by the intercom's garbled speech in the background.]

...I must go. It's time to finally... do something, instead of wasting away as a merc. They're giving the evac order here in Mars High. Millions will want to leave the system due to the 'Goid threat. Destination: The V886 Centauri System. I'll be ferrying refugees. My ship has... some room. Enough for thirty heads. Every life saved will never make up for the hundreds I've taken, but... it's a start. She'll get us there. She'll get us there fast.

CMDR Stanford Teverell, out.
