My efforts have not gone unrewarded. The Stormrunner can hold a small amount of souls on board. Thirty two, to be exact. The compartments are small... just a bed and chest for each soul. The beds are tightly packed together and it comes with a small, single men's and a women's restroom. Very little privacy. However... it's enough to ferry some people from Sol to V886 Centauri. I've delivered over 500 people to safety without a single loss of life. I'm... proud of that. A woman even gave me a hug for the journey. Apparently, her daughter was taken to safety first and had to leave her behind, but... she pulled some strings. And she thanked me for. With a hug.
[There was a long pause, yet again interrupted only by the hum of a cockpit and the voice of a station intercom. The intercom spoke once in English, and another right after in Mandarin.]
I... don't think I've ever gotten a hug from a stranger, before. Never from my parents. Aunt Harriet only hugged me... maybe a handful of times. After I ferried those people to safety, the Federal Navy recognized my rescue efforts and rewarded me with a permanent permit to Sol. I... can live here, if I wanted to. The Cradle of Humanity. I'm currently in Li Qing Jao. The Stormrunner made full repairs in record time. My stupid arse thought I could fight a Hunter, so I went looking for the bastard.
...I nearly got absolutely fucked.
[Stan chuckled softly. He coughed a bit after, hoarse from speaking so much... and from laughing for the first time in a long time.]
I should get to work. Plenty more to do, plenty to see. The Titan should be here by the week and I need to prepare myself. Run support, outfit my ship for combat, and hopefully... not die in the process.
CMDR Stanford Teverell out. Oh-seven.
