Day by day08 April 3306, System : [Redacted].
The void of space around the peaceful orbis station is fractured for the split of a second, revealing a damaged Mamba, painted black and silver, valiantly displaying its ALD Aquillas that were scratched in the heat of battle. It's pilot requests emergency landing from the station on a surprisingly calm tone. A young lady with long, straight black hairs receives a notification on her PDA that an emergency will require her presence on pad 18 asap, Upon reading the request, she simply mutters to herself:
-Spectral...
Red rotating lights flashes on the landing pad as ground crews frantically position themselves in order to perform their respective duties. Sooner than later, the landing gears of the mamba hits the pad in a loud clanging noise, clamps secures the ship in place as the pad starts to slowly descend in the bowels of the shipyard. A pilot cladded in the basic Lavigny's Legion flight suit later casually walks off a malfunctioning damaged ramp, contrasting with the surrounding personnel trying to put out an ongoing chemical fire in the starboard engine bay, where the armor was breached by a fiery ball of plasma earlier on. As the pilot crosses the door of a nearby compound, the young lady cladded in engineer clothing simply stands there, offering an uncertain look to the glossy black helmet of the pilot who then softly presses on his neck, causing the helmet to retract from around his head in an instant. Under the Helmet lies the cold face of a man with pale skin, a vertical scar crossing over his right silvery blue eye. He stares back at the young lady, in silence. She manages an uncomfortable smile while unintentionally grabbing her forearm and tries on a humorous tone:
- Well it seems you've found your match after a few days of operations now, haven't you?
She loses her smile upon noticing a lack of reaction on the pilot's face and as her stare dives into the floor and her tense shoulder drops, she follows up:
-Listen, I am just glad to see you are not hurt this time... but just how long do you plan to keep on going on like this?
she inquires softly, to which the pilot responds to in a deep and calm voice:
- As long as neede-
- But aren't you concerned that one day that escape pod of yours might malfunction? or that a shot lands on one of those overcharged power plants? heck it might even be the canopy!
She rebels. He then replies unfazed:
- I wouldn't be the first.
Her face turns from worries to barely contained anger as she presses her words:
- Speaking of that ... isn't becoming an imperial corsair a bit ironic after joining that legion of yours to fight the very same kind of people that ruined both of our childhoods? don't you care about those innocents traders you shoot at!? Haven't you served during the pirate war to end those kinds of things in the first place!!??
tears couldn't help but escape her eyes, has it was not the first time they had that discussion, but this was one too many.
- I know all that. If you want I can have another chief engineer appointed to the task if you're not comfortable with the job anymore...
he says, still visibly unfazed.
-No! no.. that's not it... it's never been about the ships...
She says, while putting her tears away with her forearms, she continues on a now somewhat desperate tone:
-It's you Emmanuel, Its you I am afraid I can't fix. What I -
- No one can Anna.
He interrupts calmly. As her face raises up in surprise he takes a step forward and puts his hand on her shoulder and says to her ear:
-That's why they had me grounded for more than a month, just know that I do care, but I have orders ... they... they are working on something big ... and its far worst than piracy, you'll have to trust me on this. Please hold on for me out there Anna... for old times sake...
- but ... how?
she desperately whispers in the distance as the hand drops from her shoulder nonchalantly
- One day at a time, Anna. Just one day at a time.
-Day by day uh? But Spect-
as she turns around, the sight of a closing sliding doors greets her, she tells to herself:
-Spectral...
Following that, she let go a sigh of relief upon reading an incoming damage report from the ground crew. It’s only light damage, this time...
