7.5 Million

7.5 million. That's how much this bloody Python will cost me if I let ambitions get the better of me. The price for complacency is very real. I almost paid it yesterday. The scenario was typical: Two hours deep in an H-RES, looking for pirates of a particular faction. I was impatient to complete a kill contract for 10 while griping to myself at having only two in the bag. To pass idle time, I took to gunning down anything Dangerous or better. The Gs must have been messing with my mind or maybe it was asteroid vertigo, but, thinking only of credits, I piggy-backed on blasting a low-threat Imperial Clipper facing two Securi-condas. Perhaps I also fired a tad early...My beams struck power plant before basic scan could complete. The Clipper lit up WANTED, but not before I was tagged a Vigilante. Naturally, the local fuzz took the letter of the law zealously. Next thing I knew I was collecting on a paltry 40K bounty while taking multiple hits to the hull from no less that six greens-gone-reds. Shields with stacked boosters were down before I could blink! Running silent, flopping and twisting about without assist, and boosting like life depended on it (it did), I limped into hyperspace with 20% remaining. Too close for my comfort, to say the least, and 100K in damages was no salve to my laser-toasted pride.
7.5 million is a cherry Asp Explorer, is my Vulture, is a new Imperial Courier, is not worth getting cocky - at least not while the cops are watching!
