SAGA - Expedition to Sagittarius A*

07 Jun 2017MadAxeMatt
tl;dr

First major expedition taking in 27 major waypoints. In the last 125 days I have traveled 105,411 light years in 2178 jumps with an average jump distance of 48.40 light years. My longest jump was 204.77 light years during the 61 neutron boosts. I have burned 9818.76 tons of fuel, scanned 4762 systems of which 4232 where undiscovered giving me an 88.9% undiscovered rate. I have made a total of 136,174,288 credits selling cartographic data. Among these where 61 black holes, 107 neutron stars, 17 earth-likes, 189 water worlds and 14 ammonia worlds.

----------------------------------------------

Expedition start date: 2 Feb 3303 (2017)

Starting trip to Sagittarius A* via a number of Nebuli

Starting dock - Ray Gateway in Diagurandi

Ship: Asp Explorer (Sir Ranulph Fiennes)
Jump range : Grade 5 modified FSD giving a full range of 49.18ly

There are 15 major waypoints. These will be split into minor waypoints once underway.

First major waypoint is: Swoilz IH-C D60 at 627ly - This was my first discovery during my first attempt at exploration. Going to check to make sure my commander name has been registered.

Took a photo of my ship in shiny condition. Wonder what it'll look like when I get back?

Excellent start to the expedition! I got rammed from behind by an NPC whilst leaving the dock. Lost a shield ring before I even left the station. Hope this is not a sign of things to come....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 2 feb 3303 15:10

Waypoint: SAGA01 (Swoilz IH-C D60)

Arrived at the first waypoint. That didn't take long. A massive jump range and fuel scoop helps.

Pleased to see the system had my name on the discovered by tag.

On to the next waypoint, the Chamealeon nebula. Only a short hop of 195ly or so.

Distance travelled: 822ly

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 2 Feb 3303 16:04

Waypoint SAGA02 (Chamaeleon sector HR-W D1-109)

Arrived at the Chamaeleon Nebula. Not very impressive. It's a dark nebula like the Coalsack. Still, been there and done it now. No need to come back

Enough pratting about just outside the bubble. On to waypoint SAGA03-A a jump of 991ly. The journey's really about to get underway now.
21 jumps to get there.

Distance travelled: 1813ly

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 2 Feb 3303 19:19

Finding loads of non discovered systems. Just landed on a planet 11.8ls from the star (Swoilz PD-Z D1-19) to have a cup of tea. Nice to know I'm the first ever to land here

Right then! Kettle's put away. Let's get on with it

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 2 Feb 3303 22:01

Finally got to SAGA03-A (NGC 3532 Sector SQ-T B17-1). Took a large amount of time because of the scanning of undiscovered systems.

I am now 1550ly from SOL and 1650ly from home. Parking up for the night. Long day ahead tomorrow..

Distance travelled: 1813ly

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 3 Feb 3303 10:52

Ready to start pushing into the void. Up until now I've only gone 1600ly out. That 'record' should be smashed today. Let's see how far we can get.

On the way to waypoint SAGA03-B (PRUA DRYOAE WU-M DB-70). A trip of 999ly

Distance travelled: 2812ly

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 3 Feb 3303 21:30

Arrived at the waypoint. An undiscovered system with 4 stars and one planet.
Uneventful journey scanning pretty much everything except the (rocky) ice planets. Made a couple of planetary landings and scanned a number of water worlds.

Didn't exactly smash my distance record but managed 1000ly. Starting to get a feeling for how far I can go per day.

Had a little think about what and how to scan the systems in order to speed up my journey, but decided to carry on as I am. I'm in no particular hurry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 4 Feb 3303 14:17

Todays journey is 990ly to waypoint SAGA03-C (SWOIPHS XY-H C26-15)

I am currently 2540ly from SOL and 2616ly from home.

Entering a new sector. Wonder if this will be any different than the PRUA DRYOAE sector?

Distance travelled: 3802ly

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 5 Feb 3303 09:29

Not a good distance day yesterday. Only managed 350ly.
Scanning is taking up so much time as all visited systems are undiscovered and contain between 20 and 70 bodies. I have had to rethink my scanning plan from yesterday. Ok, I'm not in a hurry, but I do want to get to Sagittarius A* sometime this year. In order to catch up some have changed my internal scanning rules as to what to scan and at what distance.
My internal target is 1000ly per day.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 5 Feb 3303 11:35

Have now caught up on my schedule and am now at SWOIPHS XY-H C26-15. Time to start today's journey. A trip of 1000ly to the waypoint SAGA03-D (BLAA EOQ WG-Y C3-10)

I will be using the same scan rules as this morning in order to make up time and achieve my target of 1000ly per day.

Distances: 3529ly from SOL and 3605ly from Home

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 5 Feb 3303 15:22

Arrived at my waypoint SAGA03-D in double quick time. Very few interesting systems in the 22 jumps. One water world and 5 discovered systems. The rest either ice planets or way too far away.

Distances: 4527ly from SOL and 4603ly from Home

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 5 Feb 3303 18:58

Time for the next leg of my journey. A fairly short one this time as there is only 1450ly to the SAGA03 major waypoint I've decided to split this leg into two equal(ish) parts. Therefore this leg SAGA03-E is only 761ly

I'm heading for COL 240 SECTOR BW-J B23-D. This will be completed in 17 jumps. Lets hope this leg throws up some interesting systems.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 5 Feb 3303 20:52

Strange leg of the journey. Only 7 of the 17 systems had any planets at all. The systems that did have any planets were only populated with Gas giants or ice bodies. Consequently, this leg has only taken a short time.

Time to park up for the day. Tomorrow I should reach the Statue of Liberty Nebula and the SAGA03 major waypoint

Distances: 5288ly from SOL and 5363ly from Home

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 6 Feb 3303 20:17

Late start today due to unforseen circumstances. Luckily I've only got 714ly in 16 jumps to travel to get back on track.

Passing throught the IC 2944 sector. Very sparsely populated area. Virtually no planetary systems

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 6 Feb 3303 21:36

Reached the Statue of Liberty nebula SAGA03 (Statue of Liberty sector FB-X C1-8) major waypoint. All systems around the nebula have already been scanned, but I expected this.

Am now going to jump to a few systems and have a look round to see if I can get some good shots of the Nebula

Statue of liberty nebula from SAGA03

Statue of Liberty nebula from within (Statue of Liberty Sectory DL-Y D25)

Distances: 6001ly from SOL and 6077ly from Home

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 6 Feb 3303 21:53

Had a good nose about and taken a few shots. Time to move on to the next waypoint SAGA04 (ETA CARINA nebula) some 3000ly distant. Will need to break this trip into minor waypoints.
First minor waypoint is SAGA04-A (BLEIA EORK CS-P B39-1). A distance of 971ly.
Leaving tomorrow morning

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 7 Feb 3303 08:58

Leaving the Statue of Liberty nebula behind. Starting to feel as though I'm getting into deep space now. Still a long way to go but still having fun. Wonder how I'll be feeling after 20000+ly's.

21 jumps for this trip

Ship is still operating perfectly. No mishaps and all systems are still at 100%

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 7 Feb 3303 10:02

Reached SAGA04-A. The whole route was filled with non-scoopable stars. Twice had to divert to refuel the ship. As such, there was very little to scan on the way.

Next waypoint is SAGA04-B (BLEIA EORK PV-N C23-3) a distance of 991ly and 22 jumps

Distances: 6953ly from SOL and 7027ly from Home

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 7 Feb 3303 13:03

Arrived at SAGA04-B. Journey pretty much the same as the last leg. Lots of non-scoopable stars an few planets worth scanning. Caught a glimpse of the nebula I'm heading towards and can see the density and resolution of the stars along the galactic plane increasing.

Next leg is SAGA04-C (TR14 SECTOR TE-P B6-1) which is 990ly away taking 22 jumps.

I have changed the filtering on the galaxy map to exclude the non-scoopable stars to get some scanning done. Will re-enable them later

Distances: 7932ly from SOL and 8004ly from Home

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 8 Feb 3303 18:55

Onwards to SAGA04-C (TR14 SECTOR TE-P B6-1). Let's go!

First jump and I discovered my first earth like world (BLEIA EORK HS-H D11-7 6)

Lots of scanning done on this leg of the journey, although all systems from 6 jumps out have already been discovered.
One interesting system had T Tauri stars mixed in amongst the other planets. Not seen that before.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 8 Feb 3303 22:36

Destination reached. Took some time because of all the scanning. Tomorrow's leg to SAGA04 (ETA CARINA SECTOR GM-V C2-7) is only 74ly. This gives me plenty of time to explore the ETA CARINA nebula.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 9 Feb 3303 13:51

Quick 2 jump jaunt into the ETA CARINA nebula.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 9 Feb 3303 14:46

Had a good look around inside the nebula. It's a fairly large nebula with standard red, orange and white colouration

Time to move on to the next major waypoint - SAGA05 (SYRALEAU TO-O A33-0) A total distance of 4357ly. This should take 4 or 5 days to reach at my current speed.

First minor waypoint is SAGA05-A (GRAEA EOQ HZ-H B29-0 ) which is 988ly or 22 jumps away away. Scanning rules and filtering are set as before

Distances: 9031ly from SOL and 9101ly from Home. Getting close to the magic 10000ly barrier

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 9 Feb 3303 20:46

Reached SAGA05-A After a very uneventful journey. Only gas giants and metal rich worlds scanned.
One event did raise my heartbeat a little. My first mistake. I forgot to throttle back during the jump and didn't notice I was still going full speed at the star. Luckily I managed evade just in time before I was dropped out of supercruise. No damage done. Just a lapse of concentration.

Putting the ship away for the night. Tomorrow I continue on to SAGA05-B (THAILIAE Y1-F C16). 986ly and 22 jumps

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 10 Feb 3303 10:10

Ready for the next leg to SAGA05-B. Hopefully a bit more interest than yesterdays leg
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 10 Feb 3303 11:58

Arrived at SAGA05-B

Unfortunately not a very eventful leg. Lots of single star non-planetary systems. One water world and one Ammonia world scanned.

Have broken the 10kly on this leg. Only another 60k or so to go.......

Next leg of the journey is to SAGA05-C (THAILIAE CS-C B32-2 ) at a distance of 991ly (22 jumps)

Distances:10833ly from SOL and 10909ly from Home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 11 Feb 3303 13:01

From what I have gathered by reading logs from other solo long distance exploration trips, is that after 10000ly the scanning becomes tedious. Well I am now above 10kly. If that's the case I will be re-adjusting my scan rules. My goal is first and foremost reaching Sagittarius A*.

Let's get started on the SAGA05-C leg and see what occurs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 11 Feb 3303 15:50

Arrived at SAGA05-C (THAILIAE CS-C B32-2)

Couple of interesting things this leg:

A class IV gas giant in front of a L type brown dwarf

A ringed class Y brown dwarf star

And a couple of water world systems

Next leg is SAGA05-D (GRIE DRYE KO-D B4-2) : 998ly 22 jumps

Distances:11765ly from SOL and 11844ly from Home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG 12 Feb 3303 12:14

Starting the SAGA05-D leg.

Nothing of interest on this leg. Arrive at 14:50. Only a single water planet and another ringed Y class star

Distances:12714ly from SOL and 12795ly from Home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 12 Feb 3303 15:37

Setting off on leg SAGA05-E (GRIE DRYE WL-U B36-3), a trip of 996ly.

Not expecting anything special, so let get on with it.
Ship is still operating perfectly and so far no mishaps. Not even when jumping out of supercruise to look around one of the rings on the Y class brown dwarf encountered in the last leg.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 12 FEb 3303 20:39

Arrived at SAGA05-E. Once again a non eventful leg.
One system with two water worlds. Other than that nothing special

Two legs travelled today with a total of more than 1800ly. Enough for the day. Start again tomorrow.

Distances:13648ly from SOL and 13731ly from Home.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 13 Feb 3303 13:02

The next leg is a short one to the SAGA05 major waypoint (SYRALEAU TO-0 A33-0). This leg is only 610ly and 13 jumps
Only two more major waypoints until we start to turn in to the galactic core.

Arrived at a system with a water world at 226kly. Do I scan it or move on? Decided to scan it.

Just realised I've made a massive navigation mistake. I'm going in totally the wrong direction!!!! The SAGA05-E waypoint was 600ly FURTHER than the SAGA05 major waypoint. I have now gone 200+ly back the wrong way. DUUUUHHHH!

Okay. Take a deep breath, accept the mistake and correct it. Changed the waypoints so that SAGA05-E is now SAGA05 and start my journey towards SAGA06. Beginning with SAGA06-A (PYROIFA NK-B B47-7). This is 999ly from my current location (GRIE DRYE QK-F B31-9)

No scanning for the next 5 jumps to make up for lost time (unless there is an earth like / water world hanging around....)

Back on track and only missed a few metal rich and gas giants.

Some good systems with water and/or ammonia worlds.
One system had three water worlds and one ammonia world

and one system had an earth like and a water world.

More than made up for my navigation snafu earlier today.

Distances:14460ly from SOL and 14543ly from Home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 14 Feb 3303 17:20

Next leg SAGA06-B (FLYA HYPA CJ-G B3-12 ) a distance of 998ly

May have to interupt this leg of the journey to follow a livestream about the new ED version. Let's see how far I can get before I settle down in front of my monitor to see what's in store for the next update.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 14 Feb 3303 21:00

Well, can't wait for the new camera functionality! Hope it gets here before I get to the more interesting systems
Back to the journey. Another 10 jumps to go to get to my daily 1000ly quota. Better get on with it.

Nothing to report in this leg except an ammonia world at 200kly distance. Scanned it though

Distances:15454ly from SOL and 15536ly from Home.

-------------------------------------------------------

DTG: 15 Feb 14:41

Next leg: SAGA06-C (NYEUKUE WC-E B18-19) a distance of 996ly

A number of water and ammonia worlds scanned, so a pretty good leg. Landed on an ice planet close to a blue gas giant but no good photos.

Distances:16441ly from SOL and 16523ly from Home.

--------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 16 Feb 3303 18:55

Here we go again!
Next leg: SAGA06-D (NYEAKAI IR-K B28-3) a distance of 664ly. Two short journeys as SAGA06 is now only 1200ly away.

Only managed a few jumps before the live stream on multicrew. Some good stuff coming in 2.3.

Arrived at SAGA06-D. Pushing on towards the SAGA06 major waypoint and try to get the 1000ly in for today.

SAGA06 is another 574ly away.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 16 Feb 3303 22:23

Arrived at SAGA06 (PLEIA AEWSY UT-Q C18-4) which contained a nice water world.

A nice 1200ly travelled today. Tomorrow I push on to SAGA07 which is a significant point. It's where I finally turn towards the galactic core.

Distances:17669ly from SOL and 17750ly from Home.

-------------------------------------------------
DTG: 17 Feb 3303 10:58

Moving towards SAGA07-A (PRUNGAAE OM-W C1-15) which is exactly 1000ly away

Looking forward to that turn towards the galactic core. I'm starting to get the feeling that I need to complete this journey before the 2.3 version comes out as running around deep space in an unarmed ship could become dangerous. I really don't want to lose all this scan data that I'm collecting along the way.

Discovered a nice system with 3 water worlds and one ammonia world

There a quite a few systems with water an ammonia worlds, but the scanning is taking far too long. I have temporarily suspended scanning in order to move up the flight tempo.

------------------------------------------
DTG: 17 Feb 3303 13:54

Arrived safely at SAGA07-A. Getting careless with the throttle during jumps. Nearly ploughed into a couple of stars during that last phase. Need to keep the concentration up. Flying whilst tired is not a clever thing to do.

Distances:18653ly from SOL and 18735ly from Home.

-----------------------------------------------
DTG: 18 Feb 3303 13:35

The next leg is SAGA07-B (PRUNGAAE TX-L D7-12). A distance of 997ly

--------------------------------------------------
DTG: 18 Feb 3303 16:18

Arrived at SAGA07-B. As usual nothing of any interest in this leg.
Should break the 20kly barrier on the next leg and turning into the galactic core at around 23kly

Distances:19635ly from SOL and 19717ly from Home.

After a short rest and something to eat I decided to push on an start the next leg SAGA07-C. (PRUNGEAU JJ-X C28-50) 997ly away

Arrived in double quick time as there was nothing to scan. Gas giants and metal worlds no longer hold any value to me and are now skipped. I have also re-enabled all star classes in the nav filter so there is more choice for a better route.

I want to get to the turning point as soon as possible so I can start the journey towards the galactic core. From now on I'll be posting distances to Sagittarius A as well.

I have also broken the 20kly barrier in this leg. Also a major milestone in my exploration efforts.

Distances:
SOL: 20621ly
Home: 20704ly
Sag A*: 24906ly

The next leg is SAGA07-D (PLAE AIN NV-C B26-15) A leg of 996ly. I'm going to carry on with this leg as well, seeing as Sagittarius A* is now further away than when I started this journey.
Ship is still functioning perfectly and all systems are still at 100% even though the paint is starting to look a bit jaded.

Just re-read my log entry for the 11th Feb about scanning becoming tedious. Seems they were right as I now only scan planets I thing are earth-like, water of ammonia worlds. Still, took me 20000ly to get bored with it.

I can now see, out of my left window, the PUELIAE AA-A HO nebula. This is set as a major waypoint SAGA08 It's tempting to cut the corner and go straight at it.

Reached SAGA07-D That's 3000ly in one day. Enough for now. Continue tomorrow with my original route. No cutting corners allowed.

Distances:
SOL: 21604ly
Home: 21688ly
Sag A*: 25130ly

-----------------------------------------------------
DTG: 19 Feb 3303 10:04

Next leg is SAGA07-E (PLAE AIN LY-D B53-6) 995ly away. Itching to get to the turn in point, so let's get on with it.
Reduced scan rules still in effect.

Only 1500ly to the turn point. I would like to get to that point today.

Arrived at SAGA07-E without problems. Only a couple of water worlds found, other than that nothing of interest.

The SAGA07 major waypoint is now on 595ly away. Getting straight on with it after a cup of tea.

Distances:
SOL: 22588ly
Home: 22672ly
Sag A*: 25397ly

---------------------------------------------------
DTG: 19 Feb 3303 14:11

Finally arrived at the turnpoint SAGA07 after a long 'tea break'.

I can now finally start closing in on the galactic core. First stop is on the way there is the  PUELIAE AA-A HO. I have been seeing this for the last few days. This is the major waypoint SAGA08. It is still over 4000ly away so won't be reached for another couple of days.

We will soon be crossing the void between the sagittarius-carina arm to the Scutum-Centaurus arm via the Drymann ridge

EDSM Galactic map

Next leg is SAGA08-A (OOFAIL EC-Q B46-2) which is 999ly away

Distances:
SOL: 23174ly
Home: 23258ly
Sag A*: 25555ly

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG 19 Feb 3303 20:36

Arrived at SAGA08-A. Once again uneventful except the excitement of moving towards the galactic core for the first time.

Next leg is SAGA08-B (BLIE AEWSY EC-D C12-5) 999ly away. Start this tomorrow.

Distances:
SOL: 23001ly
Home: 23088ly
Sag A*: 24591ly

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 20 Feb 3303 13:36

On the way to SAGA08-B. Not a bad leg. I've scanned 4 water worlds on the way to here. Want to press on to the next stage.
The new scanning rules have speeding things up dramatically. I'm now travelling 2000ly + per day.

Distances:
SOL: 22896Ly
Home: 22987ly
Sag A*: 23636ly
-----------------------------------------------------
DTG: 20 Feb 18:35

Starting the climb towards the PUELIAE AA-A HO nebula (SAGA08). Next leg is SAGA08-C (PUELIAE OU-A C2) which is 998ly away

Arrived ok. My discovery scanner seems to be playing up a bit. It sometimes doesn't activate on the first try, even though my modules are all still at 100%. Need to keep an eye on that. Without a scanner, exploration is pretty pointless.

Once again nothing special except one water world system. The galactic core is starting to loom large on the horizon in stead of being a dirty smudge in the distance.

Next leg is SAGA08-D (PUELIAE IC-M B36-0) at 994ly

Distances:
SOL: 22834ly
Home: 22927ly
Sag A*: 22706ly

-----------------------------------------------------
DTG: 21 Feb 3303 19:56

Late start today so time to get cracking. Onward to the PUELIAE nebula (Is this a real nebula, I wonder?)
Just the one water world on this leg. Very spartan area for planets.

Only 218ly to major waypoint SAGA08 (PUELIAE IT-H D10-0). I'll complete this later after my obligatory cup of tea.

Distances:
SOL: 22771ly
Home: 22867ly
Sag A*: 21760ly

--------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 21 FEb 3303 21:30

Pushing on to SAGA08 (PUELIAE IT-H D10-0). First discovered system since I left the ETA CARINA nebula on the 9th feb. Seems like years ago now.

Decided to stop at the system before SAGA08 as this system is smack bang in the middle of the nebula. Stopping on the planet
PUELIAE SH-P C20-0 A 6 for the night so I can get some SRV shots of the nebula tomorrow.

--------------------------------------------------
DTG: 22 Feb 3303 21:06

Very late start today. Don't know if I'll be able to get a full leg in tonight. Still, every little helpsl.
Just completed the single jump required to reach SAGA08

Distances:
SOL: 22762ly
Home: 22859ly
Sag A*: 21628ly

The next leg is to SAGA09-A (BLIE AIM WY-P C6-0) 991ly. A very sparsely populated area of the galaxy, but am still able to plot a route although it will take 27 jumps to get there.
Just checked the galaxy map to make sure there are enough systems to make it to SAGA09 on the edge of the galactic core. Seems to be, but not so sure.

Very interesting leg. There were three systems each with twin orbiting water worlds. I scanned a total of 7 water worlds. Nice, profitable leg.
This is all I'll be doing today. Started too late to do much more.

Distances:
SOL: 22657ly
Home: 22756ly
Sag A*: 20657ly

------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 23 Feb 3303 20:13

Ready to push on to the core.
Next leg is SAGA09-B (BLIE AIM KZ-F D11-4) 997ly another very sparse leg. A total of 28 jumps required to complete

Nothing special in this leg. A couple of water worlds and nothing else

Next leg is to SAGA09-C (BYOOE AIN RZ-R B20-0) 992ly. System map is more populated now. Only 23 jumps to complete the distance

Under the 20kly to Sagittarius A* now.

Distances:
SOL: 22613ly
Home: 22715ly
Sag A*: 19687ly

----------------------------------------------------
DTG: 24 Feb 3303 13:09

On the way to SAGA09-C. Whilst studying the galaxy map I saw a nebula along my chosen route that I had not seen before. Only thing is, is that it's a few thousand light years down from my original route.  I might make a change in my intinary and include this nebula. It's still more than 10000ly away so plenty
of time to think about it.

Nothing of any note scanned on this leg.

Distances:
SOL: 22588ly
Home: 22691ly
Sag A*: 18718ly

------------------------------------------------

Arrived at SAGA10-F. Nothing of interest except one water world at 161kls

The galactic horizon looking towards the core has now become a sandy brown smudge instead of the bright line of stars that you see at distance. Need to look up this phenomenon.

I can now see two of the nebulae on the horizon that I'm going to be visiting.

Very tired today so not so much interest in scanning. I think I'll just jump and scoop this leg.

Nothing of interest in this leg except that I can now see the next two nebulae on my route. It is only 384ly to SAGA10 now. I'll be jumping this tomorrow so that I have plenty of time to look around the nebula (HYPIO PRAO AA-A H16)

That was a massive trek from SAGA09 to SAGA10. Over 10000ly with not a lot of interest in between. I'll be glad it's over tomorrow. I reckon that this was the longest leg.

Time to complete the journey to SAGA10 and see the HYPIO PRAO AA-A H16 nebula. It has been looming on the horizon for a number of days. Time to see it close up.

Stunning nebula. With exception of the horse head nebula, this is the best yet. A really nice green and red nebula. Stopped on HYPIO PRAO VI-U B48-11 for the night to get some screenshots and have a look round.

Worth the effort to get here. At the moment I have not found any other discovered systems. I wonder if anybody has ever been here yet? Shame it's got such a crap name. I wonder how you go about getting it renamed? I'll have a look into it later.

After jumping around a number of systems I have eventually found another commanders name on a few systems.

I'll complete the last jump to SAGA10 tomorrow. It's only a single 17ly jump. From there on to SAGA11 and yet another nebula.

First leg is is a climb to SAGA11-A (PHEIA AUSCS WF-F B25-43) 931ly away.

For some reason I went back to my original scan rules and found myself scanning ice planets. Strange.

Just one water world in this leg. The galactic background is becoming ever lighter and more populated. Looking forward to getting into the center. The turn towards Sagittarius A* starts in two waypoints time. Can't wait.

Right then. Time to push on to the next major waypoint SAGA12 (EORM PHYLOI FI-Y C2-1) in the EORM PHYLOI AA-A H13 nebula (Another crap name). This is 2495ly away so a couple of legs required to get there.
Just skirting the edge of the galactic core on the eastern side viewed from SOL taking in the the nebulae there

First leg is SAGA12-A (PHEIA AUG VC-Z C27-1) 992ly

Really nice system with an Earth like and a water world (PHEIA AUSCS UI-J C25-20)

The very next system is my first neutron star on this trip and my first undiscovered neutron star. There is also a water world orbiting this star 12kly away.
(PHEIA AUSCS HO-F D12-521)

What a leg this is. The next system has a water world and a couple of landable ringed metal rich worlds. I've landed on the closest one to the star to take some shots (PHEIA AUSCS HZ-D D 13-214-1)

The leg that just keeps on giving. Yet another undiscovered neutron star.

Just arrived at the destination and had a look to see if there are any other non-sequence stars around so that I can make up a complete set of undiscovereds. I still need a white dwarf and a black hole. There is a white dwarf just 5ly away. Going to collect that shortly. Can't find a black hole at the moment but will keep a good lookout for one.

This is without doubt the best minor leg of the expedition so far. One earth like, two water worlds, two neutron stars and two magnificent ringed high metal content worlds. Also an undiscovered white dwarf, although that was not strictly on the route

Before I leave on the next leg I want to 'harvest' some of the many neutron stars around me. Hopefully I'll find an undiscovered black hole too.
After 20+ undiscovered neutron and white dwarf stars, I have found my undiscovered black hole (PHEIA AUG MS-U F2-8).

Time to continue with the leg proper. Filters re-enabled and go, go go......

Changed my scanning rules to now filter out M class stars as well as the non-scoopable (L, T, Y and Proto stars)

Arrived at SAGA12-B. Another good leg with three water worlds and another five neutron stars.
Almost slipped up as I had used up 4/5th's of my fuel before I noticed it. Normally I top up at every scoopable star. Wonder if the fuel rats would have been able to rescue me this far out?

Next leg SAGA12 (EORM PHYLOI FI-Y C2-1) in the EORM PHYLOI AA-A H13 nebula. Distance is 504ly away.
Arrived at SAGA12 scanning just one water world and four neutron stars. Funny how quickly something that was exciting a short while ago becomes routine.

Going to jump to number of systems within this nebula to get some shots. On to SAGA13 tomorrow.

I am now at the highest point above the galactic plane and will start moving into the galactic core. This is the last of the planned nebulae before Sagittarius A*. I have some ideas of what I want to do once I've witnessed that spectacle.

I have now been in the black for 34 days. The ship's functions are still at 100% which is quite amazing considering all the neutron stars I have been scanning. I have slipped up with the throttle a number of times but have always managed to evade a drop out of supercruise. The two heat sink and two afmu modules are starting to build up dust. Need to make sure they are still working properly. Long way to go still.

Finally reached SAGA13-A. Lots of scanning that needed to be done. Four water worlds, 7 neutron stars and a white dwarf. The water worlds where all some distance away from the main star. Still, a very nice leg.

First leg is SAGA14-A (STUEMAEA WA-N D7-8845) 952ly

Well, actually completed the leg in double quick time (23:35). Hardly scanned anything (there wasn't anything of interest to scan), so pushed on. Still a really tough leg as I'm absolutely knackered.

Okay, second leg for today. Sagittarius A* is getting ever closer. Really looking forward to seeing it after a number of weeks in the black.

But first I still need to cover almost 2000ly before I get there. Also after a long descent from the last nebula, I should finally be right in the permalight area of the galactic core.

Arrived at SAGA14-C. A nice leg with 6 water worlds scanned

Big evening this evening. This is the moment that I reach Sagittarius A*. With only 910ly to go, I intend to jump to on system short of the super massive black hole, before the grand finale.

This means that my last leg before Sagittarius A* is SAGA14-D (STUEMEAE FG-Y D824B) 908ly
Looking forward to this....

A nice leg with four water worlds and an earth like. I had expected to hit discovered systems from a way out, but only encountered one at the last stop.

Arrived at SAGA14-C. Only 1.93ly to go to get to Sagattarius A*. After over 40000ly the ship has performed perfectly and all systems are still at 100%. All my heat sinks are still on board and the afmu has not been used.

Here we go....

--------------------------------
DTG: 13 Mar 3303 20:30

Fantastic view. Made it on piece and had a good look at the black hole. Did a large circuit and watched the strange effects. Scanned the beacon and then headed to the accompanying star in the system

Tomorrow I need to have a think on where to go next. Colonia is a good candidate, but I may also try an reach the roof of the galaxy first. I'll be doing some research in my down time.

Till then I'm going to park up for the night and marvel at the spectacle of the super massive black hole Sagittarius A*

------------------------------------
DTG: 25 Mar 3303

Decided to hang around for quite a deal longer than one night. Feeling refreshed and raring to go.

Next leg of the journey is to go straight up on the galactic plane to observe the galactic core from above.

First leg of the climb is to SAGA15-A (STUEMEAE QV-A C2-778) 986ly

Water world and one discovered earth-like

---------------------------------
DTG: 27 Mar 3303

Second leg of the climb to SAGA15-B (NYUENA PT-Z D556) 999ly

Stars are starting to thin out quite quickly now. Wonder how 'high' I can go

Just had my first drop out of super cruise. Got too close to the earth-like whilst studying the galaxy map. No damage done as I was at minimum SC speed
Running a check on all systems just in case

--------------------------------
DTG: 28 Mar 3303

Ammonia world, two water worlds at 60kls
A water world

Next leg is SAGA15-C (QUEMEOU BQ-Y D2) 882ly.

I haven't found any other systems higher on the galactic plane than this. I'll first see if I can get to this system and then search for higher systems.

------------------------------
DTG: 29 Mar 3303

I am now 2784ly above Sagataruis A*. Haven't got the view I wanted (to see the whole of the galactic core), but it is rather nice here. Tomorrow I'm going to investigate if there are systems higher than where I am now. Tonight I'm going to enjoy the view

-------------------------------------
DTG: 30 Mar 3303

Time to start looking for more 'height'. Let's see if there are any systems above me.

Found a T Taurus star 87ly above me. Just doing some calculations to see if I can get there and back with my FSD injection materials. Never used them before so it's a bit of a risk. Having an internal debate now

Never mind. Just pushed the plot route button by accident and it seems I can get there using normal jumps albeit in a very roundabout way. Let's go

On the way to SAGA15-D1 (QUEMEOU YE-A EO) 87ly in 7 jumps (and 7 back again......) first two were scoopable, the rest all T Tauri stars.

Exciting and nerve wracking. Just enough fuel to get there and back to the nearest scoopable star. Got the old ticker going there. Took a nice photo though

Next major waypoint is Colonia. This has been designated as SAGA16. Colonia is 11854ly away.

First leg is SAGA16-A (CROOMAA RG-P C21-2) 998ly away. Starting this journey tomorrow.

---------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 31 Mar 3303

Right, I've got until the 16th April to get to Colonia before V2.3 comes out. I don't want to get caught out by the Thargoids with all this scan data and my pants around my ankles.

Let's get moving. Only approx 12Kly to get there. The race is on!!!!

A nice system with an undiscovered Earth-like and a Water world

Next leg is SAGA16-B (CROOMOI UN-S D4-273) 998ly away.

----------------------------------------------
DTG: 01 Apr 3303

Nice leg this one. I have now finally found out how to explore. Instead of sticking to the planned route for 20 or so jumps, I look around the area for interesting things before jumping in the general direction of travel.

So far, I've scanned 10 black holes, 5 neutron stars, 1 white dwarf, 2 water worlds and a nice red giant.

Also a number of discovered black holes and neutron stars. Much better than constant KGB FOAM stars.

Next leg is SAGA-16-C (PHEIA SCRAA AC-C D13-1732) 994ly

Distances:

Colonia: 9966ly
Sol: 25074ly
Home: 25179ly

-----------------------------------------
DTG:  02 Apr 3303

On the way to SAGA-16-C (PHEIA SCRAA AC-C D13-1732). What started as a boring leg turned into a blinder after the halfway mark.

Scanned 8 black holes, 5 neutron stars, 5 white dwarves and 2 water worlds. There were two systems with a black hole, neutron star and a white dwarf and one system with a black hole and dual white dwarves.

Only drawback is that I had to do some travelling in system to scan all the stars. Two were over 80kls away and one neutron star was over 200kls away.

It's getting late so will be plotting SAGA16-D tomorrow.

------------------------------------------
DTG: 03 Apr 3303

Just found out that the Great Annihilator is not Sagittarius A* as I had always believed. It is in fact a completely different system between SAG A and SOL. Just checked out it's position and it's now 3800ly away back to where I just came from. What to do? Do I travel there now or wait until after Colonia. Decisions, decisions........

After much delibaration I've decided to leave that for another expedition.

Right then, on to SAGA-16-D (THEEMAE OC-M D7 4677) 995ly

Second jump in to a system with a black hole where the black hole wasn't the most interesting thing. There was also an Orange giant with an F type star in front of it

Not going to be able to make SAGA16-D today due to the excess in inter-system super-cruising. Gone 400+ly and already scanned 8 black holes, 2 water worlds (both at 345kls), one neutron star at 70kls and a white dwarf at 423kls

Continue tomorrow.

--------------------------------------
DTG: 04 Apr 3303

Day 2 of the SAGA16-D leg. So far I discovered 5 black holes and 4 neutron stars and a water world. Still travelling long distances in-system to get the neutron stars

Finally made it to SAGA16-D. Had enough for today. Next leg will be sorted tomorrow.

-----------------------------------------
DTG: 07 Apr 3303

After a few days out, I'm ready to continue the journey. After this amount of time in the black it's getting harder to continue day after day. I still want to try and make it to Colonia before the Thargoids take over or before there is a superpower war over Merope. Colonia is still 7978ly away.

Today's leg is SAGA16-E ( ZUNOAE NO-Y D1-9441) 997ly

Not a bad leg. An earth-like, two water worlds and two neutron stars. I didn't go off the chosen route today to try and get some distance

-------------------------------------------
DTG: 09 Apr 3303

Continuing the descent into Colonia. Next leg is SAGA16-F (DUMBAA CZ-I B51-34) 999ly

Just the one water world on this leg. I haven't deviated at all to make up some time and distance.

Colonia is still 6147ly away. This is really tough going since Sagittarius A*

---------------------------------------------
DTG: 11 Apr 3303

Well missed my target. The new update came out and I'm still in deep space. Just need to hope that all Thargoid encounters are friendly and that they don't blow my sorry a#$e to kingdom come.

A couple of plusses is that I get to use the new camera and I get more credits for the scan data.

Let's roll on 2.3

Next leg is SAGA16-G (SCHEAU FLYI PJ-B C16-5779) 997ly.

Just had a quick play with the camera. A lot to setup. Need to read up on this some more. HOLO-ME is completed for now. Looks sort of like me. Some selfies required to get it sorted. Can't name my ship yet unfortunately.

For the rest. Just jump, scan, scoop, rinse and repeat for the next few days.

Just managed a couple of jumps before bed. Carry on tomorrow. Time for some camera research

--------------------------------------------------
DTG: 12 Apr 3303

Improved my HoloMe image and sorted the camera controls. Here are the first results

Finished the SAGA16-G leg. Not very interesting, just the one Water world. I wonder how much I'll get for this with the new 2.3 exploration pricing.

Next leg is SAGA16-H (SCHEAU FLYI IS-A D1-834) 998ly

Colonia is 5175ly away

Double dose today. Getting near Colonia. This leg is SAGA16-L (EOCH PRUAE VA-E D12-132) 999ly

Nice leg with four water worlds (three in one system) and a ringed water world

Getting close now with only 1202ly to Colonia.

Might do another leg and get there tonight.

Splitting the last effort into two legs first is SAGA16-M (EOL PROU LP-T B32-20) 650ly. Going to do this straight away

Picked up a water world and a ringed water world on this leg. Only 560ly to Colonia. I reckon I'm going to push on.

Next stop SAGA16 Colonia! Wohoooo! Only 20000ly to get back home after that.....

OK. Only one jump to Colonia. Need to try and remember how to dock and how to evade an interdiction. Let's hope I don't get to see a rebuy screen just yet.

Docked safely and no interdictions. In the hanger for the night. Time to collect some statistics for the trip so far. Report on that in a few days.

Just named my ship and gave it the first ID in my fleet (MAD-03)

My other ships are:

MAD-01 - Sidewinder
MAD-02 - Cobra Mk3
MAD-03 - Asp Explorer
MAD-04 - Imperial Clipper
MAD-05 - Type 7
MAD-06 - Type 9
MAD-07 - Viper MkIV
MAD-08 - Eagle
MAD-09 - Python
MAD-10 - Anaconda

(These ship ID's have since been changed to JL-<ID><Revision>. So my Asp Explorer is now JL-03A)

Having a great time jumping around the populated systems in Colonia. Hoping to find a mega ship, an asteroid base and one of the new tourist attractions (bars etc.). Not going online to see if there any in Colonia. Going to explore myself.

Playing with the new camera suite and am taking loads of screenshots. What a great feature!

Still deciding where my next exploration leg is going to be. One thing is for sure, I won't be leaving for a couple of days. Maybe weeks who knows.

After having scanned all inhabited systems around Colonia, I took a quick trip out to the heart of the EOL PROU AA-A H89 nebula. This is the nebula surrounding Colonia

------------------------------------
DTG: 21 Apr 3303

Starting to think about heading back to the bubble now. I'm investigating using the Neutron star highway back. Using this site (https://www.spansh.co.uk/#) You can plot your route. It's going to take me 173 jumps to get back home (not including jumps out to refuel). Not bad for a distance of 22073ly

I'm going to try a neutron jump and see how it goes. If the risks are acceptable I'm going to go for it. I have my dual AFMU's on board and a number of heat sinks.

(Route Link)

Just supercharged at a neutron star for the first time. It's essentially the same as the white dwarf charging except I now have a jump range of 197ly.

Decided to visit a nice nearby nebula (DRYOOE PROU AA-A H131) which is 1145ly away (in the wrong direction....) using neutron stars.
Therefore I've designated this as SAGA17 (DRYOOE PROU GL-Y D-153).

Arrived at SAGA17 after just 9 jumps with an average of 119ly jump distance. I have managed this with no damage to my ship or systems. This is a great way to travel and will now be used as much as possible.

I have scanned 5 neutron stars and a black hole on the way here.

Nice nebula. Taking some shots now. I might find a planet and land for a while and try the camera suite out in the SRV

------------------------------------------------------
DTG: 22 Apr 3303

Taken some nice shots in the SRV. Time to get moving again. This time it's the start of the long way home. Using neutron stars as much as possible I'm now on the way to the OEPHAIF AA-A H23 nebula. One of the star systems there has been designated SAGA18 ( OEPHAIF PY-H D10-369) 3583ly away.

Currently 23106ly from SOL and 23178ly from home

After the first neutron jump of 196ly the neutron stars have dissapeared! I'm having to jump at the old rate. In that case I need to plot some minor waypoints. The first is SAGA18-A (EOL PROU VF-N D7-900) 555ly. This is a neutron star

Continuing on to the next minor waypoint SAGA18-B (DRYAEA AOB DN-B D13-429) 1632ly away from SAGA18.

--------------------------------------
DTG: 24 Apr 3303

Using the neutron stars has had an effect on my registering of minor waypoints. Need to get on top of this so that I have an accurate record of my route. Decided that I'll register minor waypoints every 1000ly just like the rest of the journey and fit my neutron star jumping into that.

Therefore my next minor waypoint is SAGA18-C (WHANOA PR-V D2-450) 999ly away.

I am now figuring out how to use the galaxy map to the best effect in order to plot routes using as many neutron stars as possible. I'm really enjoying the travelling now, as I have to think my way through the route. It's not just jump, scan and scoop anymore. Also the number of jumps required to travel 1000ly has dramatically decreased.

Next leg is SAGA18 (OEPHAIF PY-H D10-369) 663ly away.

Arrived at SAGA18 and have landed on a rocky body some 3800ls away from the star. It's daylight at the moment. I hope that it'll be in darkness tomorrow for some good shots

Kettle is on for tea. Time to relax for a couple of hours

----------------------------------------
DTG: 25 Apr 3303

Time for a look around the planet and look at the nebula.
Next leg is SAGA19 (OEPHAIF AF-A F282) This system is in the middle of the OEPHAIF AA-A H5 nebula 915ly away

Two things of note on this leg. The first is that I have suffered my first damage of the trip. I went to get a cup of tea whilst scooping and ended up doing an emergency drop. My FSD suffered 19% damage. I had to use the AFMU to repair it. I also suffered minor damage to the thrusters and other systems. I have repaired the thrusters but left the other systems as they are.

The second incident was that I had trouble escaping a neutron stars ejecta. It was an extremely violent NS. Looked like a bow tie and was moving incredibly fast. No damage sustained but the old heart rate went up some.

Arrived at SAGA19 without further incident. Resting up for the night. Continue tomorrow. No idea where I'm off to thought

-----------------------
DTG: 27 Apr 3303

Due to a shutdown on the INARA site (and others such as EDDB) in protest at the lack of FDEV support, I am unable to update this log. I will be taking notes here.

SAGA19-A (Eephaills VD-B e2748) at 999ly

SAGA20 is located in the EEPHAILLS AA-A H62 This is around 1143ly away from my location.
I am also unable to bookmark locations at the moment so I can't name the SAGA20 destination yet. I will do so when I arrive.

Jumped into a system (Oephaif DF-A e181)with a water world and then jumped out again without scanning. Time to go back and do it again....

--------------------------------
DTG: 26 Apr 3303

I have been puzzling over the huge amount of damage to my FSD juring the emergency drop the other day. It turns out that supercharging at neutron stars damages the FSD every time. I have an AFMU but it's limited. I'll have to see what I need to synthesis a refil.

Just checked. It turns out that I already have 10 basic and 5 standard refills. No probs then. I can continue to race across the galaxy.

Still on the way to SAGA20 today. Should get there though. Arrived at SAGA19-A with no problems. Just a short hop to SAGA 20 now. INARA is back online and I have sorted my bookmarking problem out.

So, SAGA20 (EEPHAILLS UX-B D1310) is 129ly away

Arrived at SAGA20. I'm glad I got some shots before I got here. Not much to see inside the nebula. Fairly faint pink and red nebula. Nice at a distance though. Got some nice shots of an earth-like on the way. Took some video as well.

I am now going to turn back towards the core as I want to do two things there on the way back. The first is to see the holy twins and the second to investigate the Formadine rift settlements in the conflux. I am going to study my other exploration data (things to see list) to see if there are any other places on route.

Okay, SAGA21 is BOEWNST AA-A H33. A system 5023ly away.

First leg is SAGA20-A (BOESKY VE-Q E5-1386) 999ly

Arrived at SAGA20-A. Had to scan a water world at over 350kls. During this super cruise I did some more research and found the Colonia waystations. Two of these are possibly on my route home. I have added these to my bookmarks.

Next leg is SAGA20-B ( BOEPH LO-G D11-10) 996ly. This is heading towards Polo Harbour in the Boewnst KS-S c20-959 system which is still 3264ly away.

Arrived at SAGA20-B. A couple of nice water worlds but a distinct lack of neutron stars. Only had one (already discovered) on this leg. Should get better once I'm back into the core.

Next leg is SAGA20-C (BOELTS XQ-L D8-394) 998ly. Not a bad leg. Two black holes and a water world with three neutron boosts. Unforunately all the black holes and neutron systems where already discovered. I think my location is on the neutron highway between the bubble and Colonia.

Next leg is SAGA20-D (BOELTS QH-U D3-728) 997ly away

-------------------------------
DTG: 06 May 3303

Now starting my 4th month of travelling, and I find I'm enjoying it more and more. I have had a few days away from the ship to get out of the cockpit and get some fresh air (went on holiday)

Let's get going and get some more ly's under the belt.

Great leg! From 510ly out I was able to use only non-sequence (black holes and neutron stars) to navigate to SAGA20-D. I have completed my first jump over 200ly (202.18ly) and have scanned the following:

Black holes: 8
Neutron stars: 2
Earth-like Worlds: 1
Water Worlds: 1

Next leg is SAGA21 (BOEWNST KS-S C20-959) 829ly away. This is one of the Colonia waystations. Here I'll be able to re-stock my AFMU and repair my damaged systems. I also need to purchase a heat sink to replace the one I had to use during the emergency drop.

Interesting leg only because I scanned a Herbig Ae/Be star. A new star type for me. It's a proto star that is only 2 million years old

<photo Herbig star>

Now landed at Polo Harbour at SAGA21. Time to replenish, repair and sell some data. 159,162,881
Polo harbour is situated in the BOEWNST AA-A H-87 nebula

Continuing on to SAGA22 (BOEWNST AA-A H33) 1227ly

First leg is SAGA21-A (BOEWNST HG-T C5-40) 987ly away

Arrived at SAGA21-A. Very uneventful and forgettable leg. Carrying straight on to SAGA22, which is now only 323ly away.

A better leg, with a number of neutron boosts. Not much in the way of interesting systems though.
Reached SAGA22. This is a system with six black holes. Just scanned them all. Took a while because you have to get within 5ls in order to do a detail scan.

Enough for today. Continue tomorrow after I decide where I'm going to go.

-----------------------------------
DTG: 07 May 3303

Had a study of the galaxy map. The next major waypoint SAGA23 is GRU HYPUE KS-T D3-31 which is 2295ly away. This is another of the Colonia waypoints

My first minor waypoint is SAGA22-A (BLAA PHOE NA-O C7-18) 999ly

I've run out of bookmark space again. Time to tidy up. Wait one....

Right, let's go

Arrived at SAGA22-A. Nice leg with a number of neutron boosts. Scanned another Herbig Ae/Be star system and found a white T-Tauri star. I thought they were always red.

Next leg is SAGA22-B (GRU HYPUE WP-Y B29-3) 998ly

Nothing to say about this leg. Staying here for the night.

------------------------------------
DTG: 08 May 3303

Next leg is SAGA23 (GRU HYPUE KS-T D3-31) which is 307ly away

Arrived at SAGA23 and landed at Gagarin Gate. Somewhere during the last legs I've been promoted to explorer rank Pioneer and have 8% towards my Elite explorer ranking. Can't remember any messages telling me this though.

The next major waypoint is SAGA24 (BLUA HYPUE QI-Z D1-4516) at 1840ly. This is the famed Holy Twins system. Looking forward to this leg.

I am now only 14318ly away from SOL and 14396ly away from home. Still not decided if I'm going home yet, but seem to be heading in that general direction. Mainly because I also want to see some of the discovered generation ships, mega-ships and static locations etc.
We'll see how it goes.

Let's start the first minor waypoint SAGA23-A (BLUA HYPUE JZ-T C18-54) 990ly

After jumping 7 or 8 systems, I've decided to call it a night. Continue on tomorrow.

------------------------------
DTG: 09 May 3303

Time to get back in the saddle and continue on to SAGA23-A
Arrived at SAGA23-A without a single neutron boost. Straight on to SAGA24 which is now only a little over 800ly away. Let's hope for some boosts on this leg.

Haven't made it to SAGA24 tonight. I'll be there tomorrow though.

---------------------------------
DTG: 10 May 3303

Only 194ly to the Holy twins. Let's get on with it then.

Just arrived at the holy twins. Nice system with two earth-likes and a tourist beacon.

The next major leg is SAGA25 (PRU AESCS HW-S B31-2) 3509ly. This is one of the Formadine rift locations in the Conflux. There are three locations in all and I intend to visit all three.

Next minor leg is SAGA24-A (PREIA PHOE TP-R B24-28) 999ly

Nice leg so far. A couple of neutron jumps, my first O type star and a system with an earth-like and three water worlds. Still 8 jumps to make it to SAGA24-A. I'll continue tomorrow.

------------------------------------
DTG: 11 May 3303

Arrived at SAGA24-A. Not much to report about this leg except a system with two water worlds.
Next leg is SAGA24-B (FLYAE EAEC CW-U C19-81) 997ly. There are neutron stars about so starting this leg with a neutron boost.

Stopping once again for the night

---------------------------------
DTG: 13 May 3303

Arrived at SAGA24-B. Once again not a very interesting leg. Just 1606ly to the Conflux now. Looking forward to seeing some of those settlements.

Next leg is SAGA24-C (FLYAE EAEC CW-C D55) at 855ly. Roughly splitting up the remaining distance to the Conflux in half.

Arrived at SAGA24-C. This system has a nice green gas giant. Never seen one this colour before. Taken some shots

SAGA25 (Conflux) is now only 665ly away. No idea how I managed that but never mind. Let's get to it so that I can see some abandoned settlements.

Just had an emergency drop at a class M star. Not sure why, as I was scooping at my usual distance. Never mind. The AFMU has repaired most of the damage.

Arrived at SAGA25 first location. I am now waiting for the transmission from the unregistered beacon. This happens at 15 minutes past the hour. I have a 45 minute wait. I'll have a cuppa while I'm waiting.

Listened and recorded the message. I'll be taking a look at that at another time. Using information already available I have headed to the settlement. After faffing around with Lat and Long I've finally arrived here.

Getting into the SRV to have a look around. According to the welcome board, I've found the Conflux Beta site. Unfortunately my SRV scanner doesn't seem to be functioning. I'm going to repair this tonight and continue with the scans tomorrow.

------------------------
DTG: 14 May 3303

Fixed the scanners and have now scanned all four data points and the public scan. Had a good look around. On to the next settlement

Just landed at the second settlement. Having a quick cuppa and then to begin exploring.

Explored this settlement. This is the Alpha settlement.

Off to the next settlement

The beacon is close to a ringed metal planet. Nice photo opportunity

http://i.imgur.com/zgvB2hL.jpg

Need to wait for the transmission. Time for the next cuppa.

--------------------------------------
DTG: 15 May 3303

Transmission listened. Let's get to the planet and find the settlement.
An extremely difficult landing as it was pitch dark and on the side of a hill. Could not see a thing until my ship lights picked out the entry gantry from about 150m away.

Scanned all four data points. Can't seem to find the public data point. Looked in the SRV and the ship. Apparantly there are volcanoes on this planet. Entered co-ordinates and am going to try and find them. Never seen them before.

Found the volcanoes in a deep gully. Have managed to land my ship nearby. Going to equip my SRV with the HOTAS and explore tomorrow.

--------------------------
DTG: 16 May 3303

After having to completely reset my HOTAS and having to use the default profile I have some semblance of control over my SRV. I have managed to get some shots of the volcanic activity but have also tested my SRV's vertical climbing abilities to the maximum. I have never driven over more inhospitable terrain.

I am not going to fly with the HOTAS in the state it's in. Switching back to KBM to fly to the next Conflux location.

-------------------------------
DTG: 17 May 3303

Arrived at the fourth settlement. This is the Gamma settlement. Slightly different entry to all the others, unfinished I'd say. Scanned four datapoints but have not been able to find the public scanpoint. Don't know if it's here or if I miss it that I'll not get paid. We'll see.

Anyway, all Conflux sites have been scanned. Time to move on to the next destination. This will be SAGA26 (EAGLE SECTOR IR-W D1-117) 2203ly away.

The first minor waypoint is SAGA25-A (LYSOOSMS RN-B D13-133) 999ly away. Started the journey but not completed it yet. Stopping for the night. Continue tomorrow

-------------------------------
DTG: 19 May 3303

Continuing on where I left off. Let's try to get some distance on the board.Looking out of my cockpit window I can see the Eagle nebula in the distance. Still a fair way to go though

Finally got to SAGA25-A after an extremely boring leg. Only 1280ly to the Eagle nebula. I'm going to split this into two roughly equal legs. The first leg is SAGA25-B (PLAA AESCS DM-D C12-17) 694ly. Let's hope that this leg is more interesting

Only 8190ly from SOL and 8275ly from home. Looks increasingly like I'm on the way back there.

Found a strange system. Strange in the fact that the system was totally undiscovered except for one ammonia world. The star and the two water worlds were still undiscovered.

This leg is much, much better. A number of water worlds discovered. Turning of the M type stars in the galaxy filter helps. I only jump with O,A, G and K stars selected (along with the non-sequence stars of course)

Time for tea.

-------------------------------
DTG: 26 May 3303

Must have been a huge cup of Tea. Time to move on.
Arrived at SAGA25-B after 11 non-eventful jumps. The next leg is SAGA26 (EAGLE SECTOR IR-W D1-117) 509ly.
I can start this leg with a neutron star. Nice

Arrived at the Eagle nebula and took some nice shots on approach. I can see why it's called the Eagle nebula now.

My next stop is at one of the new asteroid bases. This one is at EAGLE SECTOR IR-W D1-105.
Asteroid base is really nice. Had a good spin around with the camera. I'll be taking some shots next time. I have sold my exploration data acquired during the last stint and sold it for around 28 million. My explorer ranks hasn't changed though. Strange, I'll keep an eye on that one.
I have also sold the data collected from the conflux sites. This came to just short of 9 million. I wonder if I missed any data points.

Once again, time for the kettle.

------------------------------------
DTG: 27 May 3303

Starting off by having a nose around the Eagle nebula. See if I can get some nice shots from the inside.

---------------------------------
DTG: 28 May 3303

The next leg is SAGA27 (HIP 88838) 6104ly away. This is nearly all the way back to the bubble. Having done lots of research on exploration goals I've decided that a rest in the bubble and a change of ship is required. There are a lot of passenger missions that I fancy doing. I'll be doing these in my Anaconda with a SRV and a SLF.

There are, however a number of nebuli on the way back so I'll be visiting those as well.

First leg is SAGA26-A (BYEIA EURK FU-1 C9-35) 998ly

----------------------------------
DTG: 29 May 3303

Continuing on with SAGA26-A. a leg of 22 jumps without Neutron boosting. So far no undiscovered systems, but that does not suprise me as this is the main route to Colonia.
Arrived at SAGA26-A using a number of neutron boosts. (4 I think).

Next leg is SAGA26-B (OMEGA SECTOR DL-Y D184) 560ly away. This system is in the heart of the Omega nebula.

---------------------------------
DTG: 02 June 3303

Arrived at SAGA26-B and have taken some shots of the nebula

Have found a neutron star within jump range so I'm going to start the leg SAGA26-C with a neutron boost.
SAGA26-C is M17 SECTOR WQ-C C13-29 at 995ly

--------------------------------
DTG: 04 June 3303

After an uninteresting leg I've arrived at SAGA26-C. Most of the systems are already discovered. Must be getting close to the bubble again.

Next leg is SAGA26-D (DROJU LG-F C14-18) 995ly

Distances:
SOL: 4519ly
Home: 4609ly

-------------------------------
DTG: 05 June 3303

Arrived at SAGA26-D. Although most of the systems are discovered I still managed to find an undiscovered with two water worlds and an ammonia world.

Next leg is SAGA26-E (BLEIA EOHN DN-H D11-35) 994ly

About halfway through this leg and Barnards loop has appeared on the horizon. Must be getting close to home again.

---------------------------
DTG: 06 June 3303

Just arrived at SAGA26-E. After having decided that I'm going home after SAGA27 I'm really looking forward to doing something else for a while. What that something else is I don't know yet. Trading, mining or getting more access to the engineers. Not sure. Maybe some passenger missions in my Anaconda or maybe in a new Dolphin. I'll decide when I get back

Anyway. Not there yet so the next leg is SAGA26-F (BLEIA EOHN KG-L 85) 994ly

Only 2525ly back to SOL. Not long now

After an uneventful leg. I've arrived at SAGA26-F. Only 697ly to SAGA27. I'll do a couple of jumps tonight and the rest tomorrow. This is, I think, my last major waypoint before returning to the bubble and a bit of a holiday.

----------------------------------------
DTG: 07 June 3303

Continuing on tot SAGA27

Just scanned the red giant that is at SAGA27 and now find myself just 952ly from home. I'm going to complete my journey

I have re-entered the bubble at BD-13 6060 A. Only 4 jumps until home. Wohooo. Statistics coming up . Just changed my scanning rules to jump only to non-visited systems in the bubble to maximize the profit. It means an extra jump, but after all this time this means nothing

18:53. Jumping into my home system. Good to be back.

Nice homecoming. Find out that my system is at war. Still not interdicted so that's good.

Here is a picture of my route

Here is the picture of my ship after the journey

So, in the last 125 days I have traveled 105,411 light years in 2178 jumps with an average jump distance of 48.40 light years.
