Home for a few hours...

Well, I've finally done it. I'm home. The Endless Transit made it back in mostly one piece, and is now parked back in her berth at Thome Gateway, and I'm around 230 million credits richer. Or at least I was...When I got home, I bought a shiny new Type 9, and named her the Sacred Cow. Fully outfitted for mining, I spent a little time busting rocks, then headed home for the night. And that's when shit got real...
Huge news came out of the Pleiades sector just hours after I got to bed in my own apartment on Thome...three stations have been blown to shit by the Thargoids, and need immediate evacuation. Unfortunately, the stations are so messed up that large ships like the Type 9 are just too unwieldy to land. So...goodbye Sacred Cow, hello Longshot, a Python fitted as a rescue ship. Soon I'll be hauling ass out to the damaged stations to pull as many victims out as possible....and make some cash while I'm at it. Still have a little bit of outfitting to do (from the looks of things, some AX weapons are in order, since the bugs are getting a bit nasty), and when that's done its going to be saving as many people as possible.
I've also started seeing some older news stories that have my cybernetic parts buzzing. INRA...fucking INRA. All of the stories about them are true...the discovery of Jameson's ship proves it, and also unlocked something in my head. The REAL culprit behind my "modifications" and centuries of cold sleep. FUCKING INRA. THEY were behind the Master, the AI I had believed to have done this to me. THEY were the ones who made me into a monster. My whole existence was an attempt to build a Thargoid killing machine with no conscience...and they failed. And the attempt to destroy the Master and all of the others in this experiment that led to me being the sole survivor was their attempt to cover up the program. Reading Jameson's logs really unlocked a lot of it...and some memories of him being the flight instructor for my group. Bastards...killing one of the greatest pilots in the galaxy just to hide their genocide.
Well, once more unto the breach, dear friends. Time to get the Longshot over to Songballa, finish outfitting, and head for the rescue ops.
