Nebulas, Fuel Drama, and lots of Distance Covered.

The Lagoon Nebula has come into view finally. As I sat on the outskirts of the Nebula with an extremely bright star to my back, I was extremely underwhelmed. It looked just like a slightly dirty section of space:I decided to go ahead and continue my journey, and I jumped into the Nebula... I was blown away when I got away from the immense brightness of the star and got a real look at the Nebula:
I sat there for a while just appreciating the simple color gradients and beauty.
After resuming my journey, I've scanned a lot of planets. Mostly high metal content, but a couple pre-discovered worlds as well. Checking the galaxy map I see I'm now over 5000 LY from Sol, but still a long way from the core. I'll keep on making as many jumps as I can. The day isn't even half over and I've seen the inside of two Nebulas today.
The Trifid Nebula looks brilliant upon approach:
But even better from inside!
After leaving the Trifid sector, my plotted route increasingly took me through unscoopable stars. I actually ran my tank into "critical" levels twice with only one opportunity to refuel inbetween. When I hit 16T remaining, I start checking my route to see if I'll hit a scoopable star before I run out. It's making me a bit nervous though. I don't like seeing only 1-2T of fuel left in my tank. If that runs dry, I'll be dead in an hour or so. I don't even know if the Fuel Rats could save me this far out. On the plus side, there's very little worth scanning out here, so I'm covering a LOT of ground.
I've ventured into a large sector of unknown space. It seems like few are willing to brave the unscoopable stars for the gems in between. I'll make a few unscoopable jumps to find an unscanned system with many high value planets.
I had a major fuel scare... I had to divert off my plotted course to an M class star to fill up. After about 4 minutes in a star scooping, I need a break. I'm going to get out of this chair for a bit. It's a shame this ship is so small, there's not much I can do outside of this chair... Maybe I'm getting a touch of... Nah, it's nothing. I'm fine.
Sol is 6900 LY away.
