Well there was no good news from the Repair Team this morning. Apparently there is a serious malfunction between the avionics package and crew vehicle interfaces and they will need to be replaced. While the lead Repair Engineer explained in the detail what had possibly gone wrong, I glazed over the explanation up until he said "...that it was only a matter of time before the Eiriksson would drive headlong into a star somewhere out in the Deep Black..."
It was at that point, I simply authorized the replacements immediately.
Estimated time for removal and replacement of the affected packages: two days.
That means I'm grounded for the time being.
I guess that means I'll have time to contact some of my friends in Astro-Cartography and Astrophysics to further understand what information my System scans are kicking back to me.
Paperwork to be filled out, licenses to be renewed. There is no end to the bureaucracy, there is only the never ending need for it in civilization. Until Friday perhaps.
