Entry 67 - 08.12.3303

12 Aug 2017MBaldelli
Current System:  Wredguia SK-I c9-6

My morning started rather late.  While I do appreciate the perfectly controlled climate and simulated environmental noises that the Zheng He can generate; it seems that when I woke up and started my morning routine I wanted to experience instead waking up in some isolated cabin in the middle of nowhere and far enough away from civilization; with some sort of rainstorm happening.

No, it's not the first sign of space madness.  Not by a longshot.  I think it's one of those moments when I would much rather enjoy nature and gravity in my isolation instead of technology and controlled environments.  Perhaps, when I get back to the Bubble after this survey run and before I decide on which jobs I'm going to do; I'm going to take advantage on some earth-like and use my credits for an actual vacation.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

This morning's survey was a pretty interesting one.  I found myself aiming the Zheng He as a pair of gas giants in the Wredguia RM-N b20-1 system sitting a perfect 50 LS from each other and the moons in an alignment making it perfect for scan everything from a single vantage point.  It made for one of the easiest survey I've done in a long while.  Couple this with the rest of the system all being within 500 LS of each other (including several HMC and one WW that was also a terraformable); and I believe this the sort of luck I've been needing to have in a long while.

Surface mining in another system produced rare-earth elements that I hadn't found or added to my inventory previously including Antimony, Cadmium, Selenium and Niobium.

I also performed by first investigation of an unidentified signal source. Turned out to be a degraded emissions signal with a small survey data cache. While the payout would have been modest -- enough to pay for repairs and a touch-up paint job -- I didn't have the cargo space to pick it up. And in a case like this, it's really not worth the aggravation and fines for something automatically marked as stolen. I believe I might need to write the Pilot's Guild on the concept of Finders, Keepers as more than 500 LY out from the Bubble with no ships within light years of me seems nonsensical to be penalized for salvage rights. After all, on Earth centuries ago they had things called International Maritime Law that definitely covered this sort of salvage rights.

Overall, I would say this was a good day to do what I love doing.  Pity I can't guarantee that this sort of thing will continue to happen for the remainder of this leg; but hey it's an easy day and I'm definitely appreciative.

And with that I'll call it a day...  More to come without any doubt in my mind.
Do you like it?
