Current System: Col 173 Sector SK-S b35-4So the mundania of the Col 173 Sector continues... The good news of it is that I'm seeing less and less Scan & Runs and Cherry Picked systems this far out from Techehen. Whle the odds of an EL or a Terraformable are low, the healthy smatterings of HMCs out here marches on without interruption.
I was greeted with a more than pleasant surprise in my inbox that a friend of mine that I grew up with from the same province on my homeworld has finally given me his e-mail address and encrypted server to contact him at. While I was moderately surprised about all the secrecy and need for heavy encryption, I remember when we were growing up that he was never a fan of all the surveillance that goes on within the Federation.
I'll try to give him a contact this evening when I'm through with my shift surveying more planets and stars through the course of the day.
During some of my off-time, I noticed there has been quite a bit of buzz on the pending software/systems updates planned for all ships of the line. While there has beenn a good amount of positive noise on the upcoming changes, I can sense a sort of trepidation when it comes to the feeling of rushed that this update is generating. Like it's not going to be as smooth as predicted or planned and that there's going to be some issues upon roll-out.
As long as I don't end up being stranded out in the middle of nowhere, I'll be happy for anything that I can test out. I also hear that Operation: Sirius Business never did launch the second fork of the attack against Sirius Corporation. With that in mind, I might be heading back to Newholm Station sometime soon to check on the old haunts and see whether or not I should continue my ranking up withinn the Federation.
Crook Port is nice, and Tchehen has been more than welcoming for this old space dog, but there's just something about the charm of working for the Federation without all the craziness of of a million and one pilots coming and going from a prominent station still has its appeal. Well that and guaranteed rank promotion missions involving party boat (booze) runs is always a good thing.
Time to call it a day. Off to find that friend I was talking about.
