Entry 84 - 09.13.3303

13 Sep 2017MBaldelli
Current System:  Col 173 Sector LP-S c19-8

Unfortunately I didn't have the energy or the incentive to sit down after scanning the Water World in this system to complete this entry.  I have started the countdown on the clock before returning to the Bubble.  As it stands, it's at 6 days and a handful of hours now.  I think sometime around the day after tomorrow (Friday), regardless of the fact that I've finished this leg of the survey, I will begin plotting course back to the Bubble.  It'll be the standard fastest come incomplete scans that I do when I turn back for home.

As it is, I'm not sure whether I will be heading back to Crook Port, Tchehen for further reputation gains when I cash in these survey results or to the Ceos-Sothis region for Old Home Week.  After all, it's easy enough to get back to Newholm Station from Crook Port -- I've done that trip before several times and know the route like the back of my hand.  The other reason for the trip to Newholm has to do with the fact that I'm also familiar with the area and know where to turn in the occupied life pods on the black market for releasing their passengers from cryogenics along with handing in the data packet from the downed Federation Satellite out there in the Deep Black.

Speaking of that I'm rather curious what the timer is on that data packet currently sitting in the storage pool before it deletes itself.  If it removes itself before I return to the Bubble, I think I'll be adding that to the grievance list I'll be presenting to the Pilot's Guild.  I thought about pushing off until after the chaos hits with the new update coming up, but I think it's better to get it in sooner so they can approach the problem for working it into other updates and tweaks.

I can't shake the feeling that I'm going to be making less for the survey runs I've done in the last few months.  As it stands while I've found a ton of HMCs and only a couple of handfuls of MR and Class II gas giants, I've found only one Ammonia World, a handful of Water Worlds (a couple of them are terraformable), and positively no ELW either personally or something double-dipped from other explorers that cut through the area.  And as usual, the majority are the other gas giants, rocky, rocky-ice and ice worlds.  While those pay out en mass, it's still pittance compared to terraformables and ELW.  About the only thing I can confirm is that my Explorer Rank in the Guild will definitely be increased.

I went looking at the information I often ignore from the Pilot's Guild about changes and suggestions and at least two of my three issues are being addressed as part of the roll out with the upcoming software updates.

First is that Occupied Escape Pods are no longer going to be sold to the black market for the costs less than Imperial Slaves.  In fact, there's going to be better operations for their resuscitation and return to society.  Good thing as I had qualms with the current set up as my homeworld had serious laws and penalties for ignoring people in distress.  And apparently so did an Imperial Duke that said it was appalling that the monies for those occupied life pods was less than the current value of slaves on the market.  Heh, while I had issues with his counter proposal of ransoming the people in the pods back to their families for a heft sum; at least it's somewhat good that Feds and Imperials can agree on some things.

Second is that they're going to be allowing for salvage rights and salvage permits for the various data packages dropped on the surface of planets as well as Unidentifiable Signal Sources.  And here I was hoping to build up some steam about the old maritime sailors and their diving for treasure and plunder on old Earth.

Not sure what's going to be done about the surly attitude police forces in populated stations about the system scans done with ships coming and going from port, but that's still on my list.  I need to see whether anyone else took issue to their attitudes while I was out in the Deep Black.  Along with the other niggling things I've spread about my journal entries during this leg of the trip.

And with that, time for some jazz and to keep doing the happy surveying grind.
