I've come to the conclusion that Qwent is a complete asshole.  I'm not talking the sort of arrogant that screams "It's all about me"; no it's the fact that he's a sneaky, underhanded asshat that doesn't fully disclose what all the side-effects of his engineering can include.

I'm talking about unnecessary heat generation.  Between the High Charged Caapacitor and the Over-Charged Power Supply I was seeing heats in excess to 65% at the standard distance from a star I'm currently using to top my tanks off.  At one point I actually went a bit too close to a star -- not enough to cause an emergency stop, but enough to cause my cockpit to get a little smoky and steamy and I ended up activating the overheat warnings from the ship's computer.  That woke me up from my distractions and musing enough to pull as far away from the star and let everything cool off before I continued on my trip.

Yes yes, I know my physics.  Hell, I know them like the back of my hand as a ship's pilot.  You can't have any overcharging of any sort going on with current equipment without added heat being generated with the equipment.  The problem is that in Qwent's Lab there are no instruments to demonstrate thermal output.  None...  Nada...  And that's the sort of thing that for any pilot -- having all the information provided might allow for better -- more informed -- decisions about his modifications.

I was fortunate in the Zheng He, the power tweaks Qwent performed were absolutely vital as the AFMU is a power hog unengineered and I tend to like to be able to run with enough power to have everything on as one can never be too sure what's going to happen/not happen in the heat of a panic moment. The heat issues while being minor enough to cause me a little paranoia out in the Deep Black never went over the thresholds to start an overheat warning.

The Go Rin however.... This is a fighter and will often run with into heating problems in the thick of battle.  If I had a warning in out-of-combat; this is completely unacceptable and don't want my ship to be as much of an enemy to me as the adversaries I'm fighting in a res site.

So the bottom line is that I ripped out all the core internal modification Qwent did, as the Go Rin has more than enough power to run everything without them.  And I'm going to file a complaint with the Pilot's Guild about Qwent's less-than-honest offerings to the Pilot's Guild...
