I finally did it. Landed on Achenar 3, tooled around for a bit in an SRV and then made back up to orbit with zero damage to anything.Can't say how good it feels to be checked out for high G at last, and not a moment to soon because tomorrow is time to leave.
It's gonna be wierd leaving civilisation for so long.
It's also a bit emotional how the departure date has interlocked with Bowie Day, giving just enough time for us all to celebrate it before dust-off. We did the usual of course: the facepaint and the traditional organ recital of "Life on Mars". It's so great to see the kids looking forward to it.
Think I'll go recce Base Camp Zero ahead of time.
