Rank Relaxation Requisition Recklessness

Senator Arissa Lavigny-Duval had been voted in as Emperor. She immediately announced a Community Goal: deliver slaves to her, and receive rewards, including relaxation of Imperial Navy rank requirements to purchase ships, including the beautiful Gutamaya Imperial Clipper.
Mining had been going well, and I was thinking of buying a Core Dynamics Vulture to go bounty hunting. Combat pilots the galaxy over raved about the Vulture’s manoeuvrability, and its two large hardpoints. I had played with the online configurator and had figured out a power management strategy for it. But with the ranks relaxed, I reckoned that I could buy and outfit Gutamaya’s lower-level ship, the Courier. With its three medium hardpoints, surfeit of power, and also very strong manoeuvrability, it seemed a better bet.
Or, the risky plan, was to throw all of my cash at the Clipper. I couldn’t really afford anything more than the most basic outfitting. The large ship needed expensive thrusters to be able to fly with the grace that her designers intended. And an expensive power plant to drive all of the weaponry. It would be a foolhardy choice. But I’ve never been good at restraint, and have always found myself trading up too far, too fast.
I bought an Imperial Clipper. It had been an inevitability really.
