Chaos at Citi Gateway: An Overview [Lilith - Part 3]

16 Feb 2017Lilith2980
Entering the bar, Lilith quickly examined those that were around her. Deciding that no one was likely to jump on her for the sake of the bounty, she directed 'Micah' to an empty booth, and offered him a drink before informing him she had many friends sat around the other tables. This was a downright lie, but the man never called her out on her bluff so she couldn't be sure if he believed her or not.

Ignoring his questions, Lilith instead quietly pulled out her weapons, not including the one secreted on the back of her holster strap, and pushed them against the wall in plain sight but at arms reach. Then she instructed him to follow suit which, after a moments hesitation, he did. Complaining only that she had failed to respond to his questions. It was true, but it was also deliberate. The man had elected to pretend he wasn't interested in her before she'd caught him out. What reason did she hasve to trust him?

She proceeded to inform him as much, listing all the sins he had committed one by one. Pretending to have just arrived as they rode the elevator back to the streets, pretending he was alone before admitting, at gunpoint, he wasn't, and she assumed he was lying about his name too so took a punt on that to establish she wasn't stupid. It paid off, and the man finally admitted his name was really Isaiah. Although he then riled her by asking if she was some sort of adrenaline junkie who got off on attacking innocent people. Rather than show it irritated her, however, she boldly requested he get his accomplice to research her many other bounties.

It appeared to her that Isaiah was beginning to get slightly annoyed by her. Which was just what she wanted. Frustrated people made more mistakes she reckoned so this was going well into her favour as she informed him that the real reason Glaboski sent out the bounty request was due to her having information that would ruin him. Although she deliberately left out what that information was, but pointed out that the data was stored safely on her ship, lest he get any ideas.

Much to Liliths surprise, Isaiah wasn't. Going so far as to basically say he thought it was weird from the start, and that's why he hadn't made a move at the first opportunity. In all honesty, she had to admit he had ample chance to do so, and he was becoming quite endearing to her as he pulled out a set of minature surveillance drones and began making plans to bring down the Doctor by turning the tables on him. But he ruined it again by saying "There doesn't need to be trust for two people to cooperate" which triggered something inside her, and had her on her feet in an instant with a point to prove.

With barely a word of warning, she went to the bar and took emptied out a small silver canister of poison, replacing it with salt instead. In the meantime she ordered two shots of Old Sol and returned to the table. Upon arriving, she made a show of opening up the canister in front of him, and pouring the contents into one of the glasses, then instructing him to drink it. She could see the uncertainty in his eyes, possibly even fear, but he drank it before nearly spitting it out all over her. After she'd stopped howling with laughter, she pointed out that he had to have trusted her just a little bit at least to know it wasn't going to kill him.

Whether the lesson stuck or not, was very hard to tell, Isaiah wasn't giving much away. So she simply made a clear warning that she was willing to cooperate, but that if he double crossed her she wouldn't rest until she'd made him live to regret it. To which he simply responded that his accomplice, which was some kind of Shipboard AI, had collated a list of all her bounties and wouldn't hesitate to publish them stationwide if needed. It was basically blackmail, but Lilith brushed it off, they each had the chance to off each other, and neither had taken it. There was no point trying to establish dominance any further so instead she just asked about his plans.

Credit where it was due, when it came down to business, Isaiah was professional and efficient. While Lilith had been up fetching the two shots of Old Sol, he'd gotten the AI 'Bloodfeather' to run a search for everything related to Dr Glaboski. Which she, or it, had done, to a great degree. Puling up his school history, medical records and most importantly, his divorce from his wife Susan and subsequent seperation from his two children. The divorce had been cited, from Susans perspective, due to his controlling behaviour, being impossibke to live with, and unrealistic demands, specifically in the realms of intimate fantasy. Beyond that, he was indeed a very accomplished Doctor, but the last portion had put Liliths hackles up. Instructing Bloodfeather to pull up a photo of his ex-wife, her fears became realised.

Susan was almost identical to Lilith, in fact, in the image that she'd pulled from his computer you could easily mistake them for sisters. All that rattled around her head was 'demands of intimate fantasy' and the fact that she'd been unconscious. Unable to defend herself. Unable to fend off any advances.

With that, Lilith became that little girl being scolded by her father again. Frightened, upset and sick to the stomach, she curled up into the corner of the booth and fought the urge to scream or vomit.
