Chaos at Citi Gateway: An Overview [Lilith - Part 4]

Isaiah sat across the table from Lilith as she curled up into the corner. Not only was she now nearly throwing up, and panicking at the mere implication of... Whatever could have happened while she was unconscious. But now, all her hard work portraying a no nonsense image for the man sitting with her, had been shot to hell. Mind you, he didn't seem interested in that, in fact he'd tried his best to calm her down instead. Even going so far as to say, despite not needing the details, he does need a reason to cooperate, since both parties were shady at best.It took a moment, but Lilith calmed down. After a brief period she took on board what Isaiah had said and informed him that the stuff she had, affected a collection of people and not just herself. She even offered him two forms of payment. She'd pay the bounty he'd lose out on for not turning her in, or show him just what a sleazeball Glaboski was behind closed doors.
His response was simple, money wasn't a problem but if they were going to cooperate they'd do their research first and avoid cutting corners. Normally, such amateurish instructions would have Lilith explaining, in one form or another, she knew how to get a job done when necessary. But she was still too wound up from her previous anxiety to be annoyed. Although that didn't prevent her vocalising those sentiments, before asking what his plan was.
Turns out his plan involved some covert ops style rubbish that was both too overcomplicated and hands off for Liliths taste. He'd gone on about using Bloodfeathers hacking programs to synchronise with a minature drone as a proxy, fly it in through air ducts or something to create a direct link to his private terminal. All of this was in an effort to get all the information required to bring Glaboski down, something Lilith already had on her memory unit aboard her Python. So she counter offered again, suggesting they just keep it as simple as possible and arrange a meeting somewhere under the pretence of handing Lilith over. Although she knew fine well just how badly this could turn against her.
The bar was beginning to get crowded now, the man and woman that had landed her in hospital had turned up and another stranger seemed to be eyeing up Lilith. Whether he was looking for a notch on his bedpost or was another potential bounty hunter, they couldn't tell. Regardless, both Lilith and Isaiah agreed it was time to leave, despite not having solidified a plan just yet. In an effort to maintain an illusion of blissful ignorance, Lilith grabbed Isaiahs hand as they left, hoping to appear as though they were leaving as a couple, lest Glaboski have other eyes out for her. Bloodfeather made a sarcastic quip about the absurdity of the situation that had Lilith smiling internally.
Trouble was, as they gathered their things and left arm in arm, Lilith found that she liked the comfort of having someone alongside her like this. Isaiah made a point to say he was spoken for, which hadn't left her heartbroken but there was a slight pang as she realised she had been alone far too long and couldn't explore this any further. That thought quickly gave way to focussing on the job at hand, something she was completely familiar with. At least until he'd asked her a simple question that no one else bothered with.
"What's your story then? How'd you rack up all those bounties?"
It was a basic question. But took her aback slightly and left her pondering the usual questions sge was asked. More often than not, laced with innuendo. Being lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice she had basically ignored his question, but snapped out enough to begin her reply. Telling the truth, but keeping it vague. She simply admitted she was searching for someone, and that the more links she found, the higher she had to climb the proverbial ladder. Of course, the more important someone was, the less likely they were willing to talk. Which in turn also led to annoying the authorities. It was then that she found herself trapped in a vicious cycle. Being wanted by the largest powers in the galaxy meant legitimate businesses wouldn't touch her, forcing her to take morally questionable jobs, which of course only dragged her further down the proverbial sinkhole.
That said, none of that really bothered her to be honest.
After all that, she was more surprised that she'd been so open with Isaiah, and promptly blamed the breakdown from earlier, the alcohol and the comfort she was feeling from having someone in close proximity. She then politely returned the question, more to keep up the pretence than anything else, but she listened to his response nonetheless. His story turned out to be a lot darker than she'd anticipated. He'd killed his own brother, and wife, and even watched his father be imprisoned. In fact, she considered him very well balanced for someone who was as, tragic, as he apparently was. Lucky for her that he was too, someone else would have shot her dead just for seeing the bounty opportunity.
Of course, then he ruined it by lecturing her on how the life catches up on you. How bad decisions can comes back to haunt and that it wasn't too late to try and steer herself back onto the right course. Unfortunately for Isaiah, despite his efforts, Lilith had no regrets, and she told him as such as the elevator arrived at the docks. His response was simply to bite his tongue and get back to business, which suited her fine even if it was obvious he hadn't fully dropped the topic.
Fortunately the walk to Isaiahs ship, Bloodfeather, was uneventful and amicable. However, Liliths hackles did raise as they moved to climb aboard. She comforted herself by simply stating that unexpected visitors would be shot first and questioned later.

Bringing on an almost anxiety attack right in front of a man, who moments earlier, was set to capture her and return her to the Doctor himself.
