DW II | Conflux, Dynasty Ex and The Collection of Wonders

08 Feb 2019Chad VanGaalen

Just touched down in the Llyn Tegid Nebula, and realized I've had my jaw dragging along the floor of the ship for so long that I haven't stopped to report any of the intriguing and bizarre sights and sounds that have been bestowed upon me over the last week.

I have, however, managed to capture some fascinating imagery. So there's that.

The rest I'd gotten at Eudaemon would prove to be essential in the coming days, because I started a bender of discovery. It started with the Conflux settlements, and my learning of the associated Dynasty Expedition. I discovered a probe - 10,000 light years away from Sol - that led me to what appears to be an abandoned settlement in a neighbouring system. That's when I started deep diving in to any of the history I could find associated with The Club, and the project they set out to achieve decades ago.

With the Thargoids in the midst of civil war, our governments decided to seek out new real estate to ensure the future of our survival. They sent, from our guesses, three megaships in different directions out in to the void. Only one has been found, derelict, eternally orbiting in The Formidine Rift.

The Zurara. I must make my way there once this expedition concludes.

Upon completing scans at the site located at Pru Aescs NC-M D7-192 3 A, I set course for a very special system indeed. Dubbed The Collection of Wonders, it's home to two black holes and three ringed stars. I'd never even seen rings of fire, but these were particularly curious - one of them a white dwarf, and the other a neutron star. I spent a great deal of time here, pondering some of the darkest moments of my life. In fact, I may not have left if it weren't for the latest orders from Distant Worlds command glancing across my screen.

So here I am, thirteen thousand light years from Sol. Location: Clooku EW-Y c3-197. The settlement of Colonia is closer to us now than the bubble of humanity, and I must admit, it's calling my name. If DW2 Command isn't planning on making a stop there, I think I'll have to venture off and see it for myself.

Many things have changed since leaving. I have never felt so alive.
