Ship Configuration: Search and Rescue
Souls saved: 420 (Cyllene Orbital, Atlas)
Several days ago I returned from deep space around the Pleiades Nebula to the news that the Thargoids have been attacking stations in the region. Not much has changed in my findings on these aliens other than having encountered a new, increasingly aggressive, iteration. While these strikes could be described as retaliatory, the Thargoids definitely respond to aggression, they represent a threat we now face as a species. As a result I diverted 'Eirene's Promise' to Shana Bei for immediate refitting- the advantage of modern electronic systems is the low amount of space they occupy. As a result the excellent deck crews managed to repurpose much of the ship's interior into cabins.
The disadvantage of any electronic systems is their heat generation, which became a problem when entering the phenomenal heat in Cyllene Orbital's interior. Words cannot describe the pain I felt seeing some of the station's interior open to space, I can only hope that this does not advance towards the core systems. The ship has weathered the extreme environments and new occupants well, save for an incident with a Chaff Launcher misfiring under the heat. The majority of those I met while performing pre-flight checks in the cabins were overjoyed to be aboard, but there were a few lamenting at the lack of exterior windows and other luxuries. One memorable character even had the audacity to point out the madness of bringing a Dropship into such temperatures. He had a point, but the Promise has proven herself many times over these last few days.
