The Mission to Colonia

It was good to see my Aunt Casandra again. She had told me that I had left the station just as things had got interesting in Sothis. An influx of new immigrants had begun to arrive on the way out to Jaques Station located in Colonia and were using Newholm as a convenient staging post.Over the last few months their was a growing fear among station dwellers within the bubble of inhabited space about increased tensions between the Empire and the Federation and the potential of a full-scale war. Also stories on GalNet of alien artifacts, probes and wrecks found in the Pleiades Sector and finally the stories of actual encounters meant that some people wanted out of the inhabited bubble and away from the Pleiades to the safety of Colonia.
It was at the nightclub that I met Kiara Muller. She stood out from the usual crowd with her tribal tattoo's and hair cut. She looked like a "raider" - the name given to renegade pirates and killers that lived out in the anarchy systems. She said she was a tourist looking for passage out to Colonia beacon and was willing to pay well for a "no questions asked" transit. I did not believe she was a tourist and she didn't look like someone that would be scared of the potential impact of recent events but she was going to pay over 60 million credits for a couple of weeks work so I agreed to take the job.
All mission contracts are registered through the Pilots Federation. This protected independent commanders like myself from any disagreement as the terms of the mission and payment is resisted upfront with the Pilots Federation with payment automatically transferred once the contract terms are met. Kiara registered the mission and I accepted it.
So we left Newholm and began our journey to Colonia. It was a long way out and much further than I had been before but with the increased FSD range Supernova could easily complete the estimated 350 jumps in under 3 weeks.
